Boyd Gaines is an American actor born on May 11, 1953. Gaines has received 3 Tony Awards:
- 1989 Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play for The Heidi Chronicles
- 1994 Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for She Loves Me
- 2000 Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical for Contact
He has also appeared in a number of films and television shows, including Fame, L.A. Law and Law & Order. However, he was best known for playing dental student (and later dentist) Mark Royer, who married Valerie Bertinelli's character Barbara Cooper on One Day at a Time.
