I am a COI Editor endeavoring to remove a Tag "This section (Early Life and Education) does not cite any sources" from my Wiki entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neal_Ashkanasy. To accomplish this I would like the Wiki editor (Spintendo) to cite my profile in Who's Who in Australia (which is an independent source for the required information). The editor has advised me that "edit requests such as yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review" and advised me to contact the Helpdesk to find out how I might do this. Can you please advise me accordingly? |

- Harpmom39, your draft, unfortunately, is highly promotional in tone and content and cannot be moved into mainspace in its current condition. If I were you I'd start by removing all those inline URLs and citing properly--see WP:CITE. That is the first step--the second is to make it more neutral. We are not here to promote people. - @Harpmom39: your Very first step must be to establish notability of the topic. To do this, you must find two or more reliable sources of the correct type. If you cannot establish notability to the satisfaction of yourself and other editors, your article will be deleted, no matter how excellent it is in all other ways. See Wikipedia:Notability (music). There are several common ways to mess this up. See Wikipedia:Common sourcing mistakes (notability). To answer your specific question: there are people who will take your money and write an article for you, but they have no way to prevent us from deleting the article if the topic is not notable. David Worth Clark
In reading info. about The Northern Baptist Theological Seminary I clicked on the name, David w. Clark, President of Palm Beach Atlantic College (and former graduate of The Northern Baptist Theological Seminary). The next screen that came up was about a David Worth Clark who died in 1955 and gave no reference to Palm Beach Atlantic College. I then clicked on Palm Beach Atlantic College and read the correct info. about its past Presidents and the correct David W. Clark who was president at the college around 2003. So, obviously, the David Worth Clark in the link I clicked on IS NOT THE CORRECT David W. Clark who was a former president of the Palm Beach Atlantic College.

Significant confusion about how to do this
I am a composer of music and am trying to get just a brief mention and foothold about my work. I drafted a short article, but am very confused about the next steps. Mention in Wiki would help people to know me, and in getting works performed. Some have been performed. - @J Inness54: Even if you wrote a non-promotional article, it would still be deleted. Wikipedia will retain and improve an article on any notable subject, as we define it. We will delete an article on a non-notable subject. See WP:COMPOSER for the relevant notability criteria. Notability must be supported by reliable sources (WP:RS). This is easy to mess up: see Wikipedia:Common sourcing mistakes (notability). Also take a look at WP:PROUD. I can no longer find book creator as an option on wiki pages
Is book creator still an option? I cannot find it anywhere, and I cannot find any indication that it has been discontinued. Is it possible to create a book within wiki and then download it -for free- in some kind of file format for my own use? I understand PDF is not an option, but what can I use? The book creator is highly, highly useful application for rapidly creating background information. It's 1951 Kurşunlu earthquake with "LATIN SMALL LETTER S WITH CEDILLA" (the latter link may be changed to the former every time MinorProphet edits this section, see [1] for what I wrote). I've published scholarly work on a topic in medical ethics that is not covered in Wikipedia. Should I write an article about it?
I'm a postdoctoral fellow at the Charité, a research hospital in Germany. You seem to be in a great hurry to get it reviewed (Wikipedia:Peer review/Xanthi Carnival/archive1), which suggests to me that your purpose here is to promote the carnival. Please be aware that promotion of any kind is not permitted on Wikipedia, and there is no deadline.
- Looking at your article, I have significant concerns about it. I don't read much Greek, but it seems to me that the two sources you provided do not establish that the festival meets Wikipedia's criteria for notabllity. The first one has plenty of pictures of last year's carnival, but little text, and I doubt if it constitutes an in-depth piece about the festival. The second one, I can't even determine where on that site there is anything about this carnival. If the carnival has been going since 1966, it seems quite likely that it is notable (in Wikipedia's sense) - there has probably been a fair amount of independent material published about it over the years. But an article about the carnival should be a summary of what independent sources have written about it over the years: who founded it, why, how it has developed, what setbacks it has experienced, perhaps a selection of some notable or memorable performances. It is inapproprate to fill the article with the ephemera of the schedule for this year's Carnival. Hello everyone and thank you for answering! ColinFine I first submitted it for formal review when it was a draft and then I moved it to mainspace. It is listed in the Special:NewPagesFeed New Pages Feed and it marked as unreviewd. My dear, I have no reason to promote it and any of my promotion would have minimum impact. I'm not associated at all with the organization. I'm only associated with the location. The carnival is now happening and it attracts people from other countries, thats why I thought it could be useful,for foreigners. How comes the Greek version can be notable and the translation cannot? However, I'm trying to understand your concerns. I didn't translated the History section yet. The first source, makes a reference about the visitors from the nearby countries and the second one is the official website and it is referring to the clubs participating. It is a reccuring event, so everything is being written write now is not an ephemera about this years events, they get repeated each year. Patsy Ramsey
Yes I was just noticing on the Patsy Ramsey profile, Jon Benets mother. It states she's had 2 children including JonBenet.
This is not true she's had 3 children. One died aged 2 due to a car accident. She was the 1st born.
Their is a interview with the Ramsey's with them at a church. I never knew this myself.

If there was recent consensus on the merging, then you should link to that discussion also and when you start the split discussion state why you think that consensus would have changed. Duval County, Texas
Sphilbrick is insiting that false information stay on the "Duval County, Texas" page which is incorrectly quoted. He threatened to block me because he is an editor. The information is cited but is completely false and fabricated as the sources cited don't explicitly state this. I corrected the information and was threatened.

- Basically I want to write about a town of a District Layyah. I am already adding information about this district. But I do not have any referred information about that town which can be linked to page. And I really want to list that town on Wikipedia. Is there any solution available.

- @Asad waqas: Sorry, but no. You will need to find a reliable source and cite it for any information you add to Wikipedia. This is fundamental to the way Wikipedia works: we basically crowdsource information found by anonymous editors, and that in turn requires us to insist on reliable sources. If you have personal knowledge of this information, perhaps you can get that knowledge published in a reliable source, and then cite it here. Translate existing article from the German
I'd like to add an English version of an existing article in the German Wikipedia. Is there a translation tool like on the French Wikipedia?

UnwatchedPages
It's great that we have the page Special:UnwatchedPages. But that shows only the tip of the iceberg; after 5000 pages it stops, and hasn't even completed the letter A yet. I find that overwhelming and discouraging. Is there any way to find unwatched pages that may be more pertinent? Either by filtering or arranging them by general criteria, such as new pages that are not patrolled, last watched by a user in good standing or by allowing the reviwer to combine the results with personal preferences, e.g. by whitelisting or blacklisting categories? ◄ Sebastian 11:45, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

- It's thought that vandals could attack unwatched pages if there was an easy way to find them. That's also why "Page information" in the left pane says "Fewer than 30 watchers" to non-admins when there are few watchers. Admins get the specific number. - SebastianHelm, it shows the letter A only because I have 60,000 watchlist entries, increasing by 5000 every three days, when the page is regenerated. I monitor the list with an ORES filter and hope to have reduced the special page output to a manageable amount of entries in a few years. Racially Inflammatory and Incorrect Edits
Are Wikipedia page edits being monitored for edits that are racially inflammatory, misleading and biased?
Are accounts that make such edits being flagged and monitored for possible underlying motives (associations) outside the unbiased and factual sharing of information?
This page had a completely useless paragraph added that was racially inflammatory, espoused incorrect information (a personal view) about a subject completely unrelated to the subject of the article, and completely biased. I edited it out.

- Yes they are, and you yourself are a great example of that! There is nothing automatic, but that's how this website is run, by volunteer editors like you who see things that need to change and take action. More officially, we have policies like WP:BLP that draw extra attention to what the community agrees to be quality content. Overall, most occasions of offensive content is noticed and fixed pretty quickly. The passage you removed was posted only five hours before you noticed it and removed it. Image sharing with third party software (PowerView Excel 2019 or O365) Office 2019 PowerView in Excel, Link image from WikiMedia.org
Trying to get the image source linked into our example database for Educational purpose.
We tried to use other image source and it is working no problem. With wikimedia.org images it still don't show up.
The database as been done by Microsoft (https://support.office.com/en-us/article/tutorial-import-data-into-excel-and-create-a-data-model-4b4e5ab4-60ee-465e-8195-09ebba060bf0) a while ago for education. They have linked images like those list here:

The Excel Software is connecting to wikimedia server to dynamicaly download the thumbnail to show it in the PowerView Report.

- Commons is only for images free of copyright, and that is unlikely to apply in this case. Logos would normally be uploaded here at enwiki under a fair use justification, see WP:Logos. --David Biddulph (talk) 00:40, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

History merge
On Nomiki Konst I need some admin help, and the admin noticeboard—let alone ANI—is far too intimidating to ask there: The page was deleted in 2017 and recently recreated, maybe from scratch, or from an external copy of the old content. The various "history merge" pages only address "cut and paste" cases, not this. Ambiguous Redirect
Lost here as a recently created article is redirected to someway related one but both serve different purpose. It's like redirecting Donald Trump to Current President of U.S.A. Both stands true but they stands apart. Same happened here Omkar Rai is an individual and STPI is an organisation. Both are different so I don;t think a redirect is required however link should be established on both. Any insight if this assumption is correct and how to retrieve original article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omkar_Rai. RufinaSmith (talk) 05:42, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

- At the time of the post, Omkar Rai was redirected to Software Technology Parks of India. @RufinaSmith: If people don't have their own article then it's common to redirect them to the subject they are best known for, or the article which gives the most information about them. A redirect target can be changed later. I see you have figured out how to revert Omkar Rai to the article you created but that it's currently discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Omkar Rai. Linking to page ID
Hi all! I was just wondering if there's an easy way to (1) get and (2) link to a page's revision permalink (other than copying and pasting a URL and manually getting the revision ID myself)? I'm trying to link them so that the relevant discussion etc. can be linked either on a page or when I refer to something in an edit summary, but the process is so time consuming I often just give up. - That's not too hard for a Special:Permalink/941726368#Linking_to_page_ID. The similar procedure to get a Special:Diff/941726368/941729275 from an edit history diff is hard, the oldid at the end comes first, the newer ID has to be the last, if you want left (old) to right (new). Can you object a deletion after addressing the specific changes that led to the admin to place the tag on the article.
If you are a creator of a certain page and it has been nominated for deletion. Once you have addressed the specific concerns on the page are you allowed as the creator of the page to object the decision by removing the PROD tag or other editors are the one to perform this. - Milliede' Anyone can remove a PROD for almost any reason; that does not prevent someone from bringing it to an Articles for Deletion discussion, though. - I've moved it to Draft:Ann Van Sevenant and added a "Submit" button to the article, which you can click to submit it for review with Articles for Creation. However, the article needs inline citations that verify the content, and it either needs to show better how she passes WP:NPROF or cite more sources that show she has gotten significant coverage from secondary sources. You should not, however, submit it for AFC review until you have provided references to published reliable sources independent of the subject. I am a COI Editor endeavoring to remove a Tag "This section (Early Life and Education) does not cite any sources" from my Wiki entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neal_Ashkanasy. To accomplish this I would like the Wiki editor (Spintendo) to cite my profile in Who's Who in Australia (which is an independent source for the required information). The editor has advised me that "edit requests such as yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review" and advised me to contact the Helpdesk to find out how I might do this. Can you please advise me accordingly?
