Daniele Proch (born November 8, 1996) is an Italian professional soccer player who currently plays as a forward for North Carolina FC in the USL Championship.

Career

College

Proch played college soccer at Catawba College in 2016. In his one season there he recorded 8 goals and 7 assists in 16 games, he was also named South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year.[1][2][3]

He transferred to Duke University, where he played three years from 2017 and 2019. After ranking second on Duke in scoring in 2017 (five goals and two assists), Proch was the Blue Devils’ top scorer in both 2018 and ‘19, recording 23 goals and 7 assists in that two-year span.[4] He made a total of 57 appearances for the Blue Devils, scoring 28 goals and tallying 9 assists.[5] In his junior year, he was named to the second team of the NCAA Men's Soccer All-American Team.[6][7]

Professional

Proch started playing soccer in the academy of U.S. Baone, one small club from the town where he used to live, before being selected in 2012 for the academy of F.C. Südtirol, a Serie C team. He didn't had so many chances to play in the first team so in 2014 he decided to go on loan to U.S. Dro, a Serie D team. He spent two years in the club playing 57 games and scoring 7 goals, before moving to the United States in the summer of 2016.[8][9][10]

After going undrafted in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft,[11] Proch signed with North Carolina FC of the USL Championship on February 6, 2020.[10]

Personal Life

Proch grew up in Arco in northern Italy, before leaving for North Carolina when he received a college soccer scholarship.[12]

At Duke, Proch majored in policy journalism and media studies.[8][9] [13]

He has a brother called Davide, five years older than him, who is also playing soccer as a forward. Currently he plays for S.S. Benacense team in Promozione, the sixth level of Italian football. [14]
