Satlok Ashram firmly believes that after practising the prescribed way of worship, God will provide happiness to the devotee for the whole life and will provide salvation in Satlok after death where the soul of the devotee will get an immortal body of brightness equivalent to 16 suns, and thus, the cycle of birth and death will end forever.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.satlokashram.org/creation-of-universe/|title=Creation of Universe by Satlok Ashram|last=|first=|date=|website=Satlok Ashram|url-status=live|archive-url=|archive-date=|access-date=}}</ref> |

Satlok Ashram is an organisation established by Bandi Chhod Bhakti Mukti Trust in 1999 in Karontha village of Rohtak, Haryana.[1] Later its other branches like Satlok Ashram Barwala, and Satlok Ashram Betul, Madhya Pradesh were built.
History
In 1994, Ramdevanand Ji Maharaj (a Hindu saint from Garib Das Panth) selected Rampal as his successor.[2][1] Saint Rampal Ji started delivering discourses and giving initiation to the devotees.[3]
Earlier, Rampal Ji used to impart Satsang by going to the house of the devotees.[2] But, as the number of devotees increased, there arose a need to establish an Ashram. Satlok Ashram Karontha was established by Bandi Chhod Bhakti Mukti Trust in 1999.[1]
Karontha incident 2006
In 2006, Rampa publicly objected to certain illogical parts of Satyarth Prakash.[1]
Angered by this, Arya Samaj followers encircled[4] and attempted to attack Satlok Ashram Karontha. Police was also present there, however, they were just mute spectators.[5] There were about 10 thousand devotees present in the ashram including women, children, and senior citizens.[5] Water and power supply were disconnected[6]. On 12th July 2006, Arya Samajis attacked the ashram with stones, petrol bombs and fired on it. The followers of Saint Rampal Ji responded with aerial firing.[5]
In this violent clash, an Arya Samaj follower was killed. Saint Rampal Ji was charged with murder and arrested. After spending several months in jail, he was released on bail in 2008.[7] Saint Rampal Ji and His followers demanded CBI Investigation of the whole Karontha incident, but it was not accepted.[8][9]
Barwala incident 2014
In 2014, the Punjab and Haryana High Court issued non-bailable arrest warrants against him after his followers were alleged of disrupting court's proceedings.[10] Police went to detain him on 12th November 2014.[11]
By 18 November, his Satlok ashram in Hisar was protected by thousands of his followers who were holding flags of 'Satsaheb'. More than 20,000 security personnel and police forced their way into the ashram, but they could not find Rampal for arrest.[12] The police used earth movers to break wall on rear side of ashram to find him, but were opposed by large number of followers who injured some police personnel in an effort to halt their entry.[13] The bodies of five women and an 18 month old child were found in his ashram.[14]
Rampal was arrested on the night of 19 November 2014, along with more than 900 of his followers, on charges including sedition, murder, attempt to murder, conspiracy, hoarding illegal weapons and aiding and abetting suicide-mongers.[15]
Teachings
Satlok Ashram sermonize the knowledge taught by Saint Rampal Ji. It preaches that the main aim of a Human Life is to attain Salvation by doing the "Scripture-based way of Worship", hence, one needs to listen to the Spiritual Sermons delivered by Saint Rampal Ji as much as possible, and once one is sure that the knowledge told by Saint Rampal Ji is correct, one needs to take initiation from Him.[16]
There are also certain rules to be followed in order to join the Ashram. The first rule is that one must abide by the code of conduct of worship laid by Saint Rampal Ji forever. These codes of conducts include the prohibition of meat, intoxication, dowry, worshiping other gods, practising the way of worship opposite to what's prescribed by Saint Rampal Ji, and favouring anyone in these. On violating any of the Rules, the Naam of the devotee gets finished, then one doesn't get the benefits from God. Then, one has to take initiation from Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj again.[16]
Satlok Ashram claims that the devotees who followed all the rules have experienced miraculous benefits from God.[17]
Satlok Ashram doesn't believe in separate religions and preaches that the Tatvdarshi or Enlightened Saint mentioned in the Holy Books of major religions is Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj, and the Supreme God mentioned in the Holy Books of the major religions is Kabir. Also, it believes that the Holy Books define God in Form having a self-illuminated body which is not made up of the vascular system or 5 elements but of Tej/Noor(Light). [18]
Satlok Ashram firmly believes that after practising the prescribed way of worship, God will provide happiness to the devotee for the whole life and will provide salvation in Satlok after death where the soul of the devotee will get an immortal body of brightness equivalent to 16 suns, and thus, the cycle of birth and death will end forever.[19]
