Welcome to the AMA

File:AMA logo.png

Hello Sir james paul, I see that you have decided to join the AMA. I'll be the first to say welcome! We're always in need of more advocates, especially since were backlogged most of the time. Just a few pointers for what we do. We communicate by putting a template on our talk page. The template is {{AMA alerts}}. The AMA also has it's own IRC channel, which reports new cases and alerts to us. It can also be used as a place to ask for advice on an issue. If you'd like to jump right into a case, you are free to check out AMA Requests for Assistance, which is our new request for advocacy system. The instructions for how the technical part works is on it's talk page. You can also use the AMA userboxes that appear under here. If you have anymore questions about the organization, just ping any advocate's talk page, including our coordinator Steve Caruso or deputy coordinator Wikiwoohoo. Again, welcome to the AMA! We currently have a meeting in progress here, to which you're welcome to contribute. Can I suggest that you resolve your current dispute with khaosworks before taking any cases - it should make things easier for you. Also, in the current meeting, we're deciding on some processes for newer editors who'd like to become advocates, and you'd probably fall into this "class" were the rules in effect (they aren't yet!). To this end, I'd like to offer my help to you on your first (few) cases, just to look over what you're doing and help you with policy when/if you need it. Thanks, Martinp23 22:04, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Human (Dragon Ball)

That's fine. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 04:45, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The only way I'd be content with letting the article stay is if the suer can come up with a better rationale than the Pokemon test. As we've shown time and again, the article's just a stub that won't grow. There's simply no point in keeping a topic that basically says nothing the main article doesn't already. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 04:59, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be willing to talk about it, but I don't see anything coming out of it. It always ends up in roundabout discussion. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 05:09, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 05:23, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it'll get anywhere because the few who care are set on having almost any article they can find kept. That article was a redirect for a month or so before being dug up using the reason "no consensus before merging." That no one objected in a month is proof that no one cared at the time. Furthermore, like I stated above, the logic for keeping it is the Pokemon logic used to defend basically any article even one editor finds the least bit interesting. The only thing that deters such logic is when people with more authority discourage it. This might be the only course that convinces them to stop, when it should never have come here in the first place. Plus, when the first thing this keep user turns to is the accusation of sockpuppetry ("who may in fact be the same person"), I just don't see how helpful discussion can occur. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 05:45, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would be happy with that. There are more than enough individual races to fill up such a page. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 06:05, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
5 thus far. Outside perspectives always help. Now if you can convince the rest we'll be in business. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 06:15, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for responding. If you could browse through this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Sacha_Baron_Cohen#Request_For_Comment and give us some feedback it would be appreciated.
