Ours is a community of artists and entrepreneurs in Los Angeles County, California. Formed by Alice Grandoit, Sara Leimbach, Justen LeRoy, and Xavier Odemns in 2018, it acts as a social practice platform for activating like-minded creatives towards collective action.

Ours has taken the form of monthly potlucks, a conversation series at Navel and Underground Museum in Los Angeles, California and a collaboration with educators in Compton, California.

  • Spring/Summer 2018 - “The Ours potlucks were about bringing people together from various communities to one space to see how we can all combine our strength and lift each other up and feel good. It was a space for us to forget about the various stresses of life and come together and exist together and laugh and cook together sometimes.” - Xavier Odemns
  • Fall/Winter 2018 -  Ours facilitated a series of workshops exploring community, influence, responsibility, and place through shared discourse. Over four sessions we invited groups of practitioners within the arts, science, public service, and commerce from various LA neighborhoods to engage in creative dialogue across disciplines.
  • Winter/Spring 2019 - Ours built a series of project based learning experiences in collaboration with educators at Centennial High School.

Ours is currently active and available for reunion as needed, with a permanent archive of reference material and community directory housed at the Los Angeles Contemporary Archive (LACA).
