Please, you know I'm sympathetic to including librarians and achivists and related professions, but you are making it much more difficult if you try to writearticles indiscriminately on everyone whose papers ae included in your archive. Connected contributors, even in noncommecial fields--tend to have problems like this.

I have enough work to do here keeping the important people in this field in Wikipedia , as I have done for 12 years now., without having to deal with these. DGG ( talk ) 04:41, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

I really appreciate your edits and suggestions for the pages I'm working on. And I appreciate your support in making archivists and librarians more visible on Wikipedia. I am not trying to make pages for every single archivist, but people who have been suggested to me. I am very new to editing on Wikipedia and most of the people I research appear notable to me. Obviously some are not. But I am consistently surprised when some that I think aren't very important get approved for publication almost immediately. While others I find seem strikingly significant get rejected.
I am not trying to waste your time, and I am grateful for the time you've spent helping me. Please do not feel obligated to help in the future. Srcollier94 (talk) 16:49, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Revision as of 16:49, 14 April 2020

Hello, my name is Stephanie and I am living in Illinois. I am almost finished with my Master's in History, specializing in the history of film & multimedia, women, sexuality, Native Americans, and the American West. I love to study history and write about my research. I also love comedy, movies & TV, animals, traveling and cooking & baking. I am currently working on a personal project where I am writing Wikipedia articles for prominent archivists who do not have a Wikipedia page but should. If you are interested, please check my drafts and add any notes or edits you think might help. Thanks!Srcollier94 (talk) 14:14, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! User:DGG User:Theroadislong User:stuartyeates I've had some trouble lately with some articles not meeting notability or being too "fluffy." Would you mind taking a look? Any edits or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated! I feel like they are all notable and my research shows that, but they've been denied. It's frustrating to get denied so often, especially seeing others with approved pages who are just as or even less notable. Thanks! Srcollier94 (talk) 17:04, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. -Liancetalk/contribs 22:51, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Srcollier94, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Draft:Diana Lachatenere have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

 • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
 • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
 • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
 • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
 • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
 • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 16:45, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your addition to Draft:Karen Jefferson has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. Your submission at Articles for creation: Archivists and Archives of Color (September 17)

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Chetsford was: This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: The last two submissions have contained no improvement or edits that responded to the comments left by three previous reviewers. The most recent submission, in fact, contained no changes at all. Based on the fact it was resubmitted with no edits of any kind, it is assumed no further improvements are possible. The article is, therefore, rejected as unsuitable per WP:AFC/RI as this draft would almost certainly be uncontroversially deleted were it to be moved to mainspace.

advice

Please, you know I'm sympathetic to including librarians and achivists and related professions, but you are making it much more difficult if you try to write articles indiscriminately on everyone whose papers ae included in your archive. Connected contributors, even in noncommecial fields--tend to have problems like this.

I have enough work to do here keeping the important people in this field in Wikipedia , as I have done for 12 years now., without having to deal with these. DGG ( talk ) 04:41, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DGG I really appreciate your edits and suggestions for the pages I'm working on. Srcollier94 (talk) 16:49, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
