Bhuj: The Pride of India is an upcoming Indian 2020 Hindi-language war action film directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya. Set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, it is about IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, the then in-charge of the Bhuj airport who and his team reconstructed the IAF airbase with the help of 300 local women.

The film features Ajay Devgn as Karnik, along with Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi indeed playing the leading roles in the film where as Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk, Pawan Shankar and Pranitha Subhash playing supporting roles After announcing the film on 19 March 2019, it was confirmed that the true incident shown in it is one of India's most fascinating war-related stories.

Principal photography began in late June 2019, and it was shot in Hyderabad, Kutch, Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai and Kolkata. The film will be released on 14 August 2020 to coincide with Indian Independence Day weekend.

Production

Development

On 19 March 2019 Bhushan Kumar announced the film on the events of Indo-Pak war. The film depicts the incident from Indo-Pak war of 1971 where three hundred local women helped in reconstruction of destroyed airbase in Bhuj, Gujarat.

Casting

Ajay Devgn portrays Vijay Karnik, and he was also the only choice for the role. The other cast included Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk and Rana Daggubati. The film is Virk's second Hindi film. South actress Pranitha Subhash later was confirmed for an important role, making her Bollywood debut.

Parineeti Chopra was signed to portray a spy in the film, but due to shooting dates clashing with her other film Saina, she exited the film in November 2019. Nora Fatehi was roped in as a replacement for her in January 2020. Later in January, Daggubati dropped out of the film citing some health issues, and Sharad Kelkar replaced him.

Filming

Dutt started shooting for the film on 25 June 2019 in Hyderabad. Then, the cast travelled to Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai and Kolkata to commence the next portions of the film. To shot Pakistan scenes, a set in Bhopal was arranged, thus recreating Pakistan in the city. A song, picturized on Devgn and Sinha, was filmed in Kutch in late December 2019. Fatehi began filming her role on 12 January 2020 and completed it on 31 January.

Release

The film is scheduled to be theatrically released in Hindi language on 14 August 2020.
