James was the son of Isaac Arrowsmith who started the printing business in

James William Arrowsmith was Bristolian business leader who played a key role in the erection of a statue to Edward Colston in Bristol. Arrowsmith owned J. W. Arrowsmith, the largest printing and publishing company in Bristol.[1]

James was the son of Isaac Arrowsmith who started the printing business in 1854. When he died in 1871, James took over the running of the company.
