A pizza bagel is a bread product traditionally topped with cheese and tomato sauce. A pizza bagel is a bagel cooked with pizza toppings on it. The simple tomato sauce and cheese pizza bagel is the most common, though a layer of cream cheese often appears as a base under the tomato sauce and cheese. Toppings can vary as widely as pizza toppings can.
Pizza bagels are usually served at lunchtime. A bagel is cut in two and each side is covered with tomato sauce, cheese, and other toppings. The pizza bagel is then placed through a conveyer toaster or in an oven to melt the cheese and warm the bagel. The dish is usually served open-faced. A product, Bagel Bites, is sold as platters of smaller frozen pizza bagels with a variety of toppings.
Bagel Bites was widely advertised with the jingle "Pizza in the morning, pizza in the evening, pizza at suppertime! When pizza's on a bagel, you can eat pizza any time!"

Additionally, "pizza bagel" is a term that refers to Italian-Jews. The term is often facetious, but could be perceived as derogatory by Italians who practice the Jewish faith.
