KOG Games is an American video game publisher based in Irvine, California. They specialize in online free-to-play games and currently publish the 2.5-dimensional side-scrolling action MMORPG, Elsword and early access action MMORPG KurtzPel. They are a subsidiary of South Korean game developer KOG Studios.

History

The company was initally founded by the name of K3llerCombo in 2010, as a joint venture between South Korean game developer KOG Studios and latin american publisher Level Up! Games, with the objective of bringing KOG’s games to North America.[1] Their game was Elsword, which began open beta test April 27, 2011, and released in July 2, 2014.

In June 2012, KOG Studios purchased LevelUp!’s interest in the company to become the sole owner. In August 2012, KOG officially changed the company name from K3llerCombo to KOG Games Inc. [2]

Altough Elsword received some criticism for pay to win systems and poor user communication,[3] the game was generally well-received, and peaked with 2,500 active players on Steam in August 2013.

KurtzPel Bringer of Chaos was first announced in south korean game exhibition G-Star 2017.[4] The game entered worldwide Steam early access in April 30, 2019.
