The Sword is a Hard Rock band from Austin, Texas, where they were founded in 2003 by J.D.Cronise.

Styles and influence

The Sword combines hard rock and elements of psychedelic rock, within the four-member band. Blending styles similar to bands such as Wolfmother,Kyuss, Nebula and Fu Manchu. One of the things that sets The Sword aside from other metal bands is their use of rock drums, instead of metal drums. The drumming lacks the double-bass, and is played on a minimalist set. Also, the singer copies other bands by using poetic lyrics containing vivid imagery of mythic subject matter giving The Sword an un-original sound. Kemado records is trying very hard to hype this band to young emo/indie kids. There are several other bands called Sword that came way before this band.
