Lee Jae-myung (Korean이재명; Hanja李在明; born 22 December 1964[1]) is a South Korean politician and attorney who has served as Governor of Gyeonggi Province since 2018. Prior this, he served as Mayor of Seongnam, the tenth largest city in South Korea, from 2010 to 2018, and as an unsuccessful candidate for National Assembly in 2008. He is a member of the liberal Democratic Party.

Born in Andong, Lee studied law at Chung-Ang University, and went on to work in that field before his entry into politics.[1] As Mayor, he achieved recognition for creating Seongnam's social welfare program, widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive social welfare programs in the nation for the city's elderly citizens and youth.[2] Additionally, he is noted for his decision to ban dogmeat from the famous Moran Market, which has been the largest dogmeat market in South Korea since 1960.[3][4][5] While Mayor, Lee ran for President in the 2017 presidential election.[6] Considered one of the three most important potential candidates in the run-up to the election[7], Lee received third place in the Democratic primary behind former party chair and National Assembly member (and eventual winner) Moon Jae-in and Ahn Hee-jung, the Governor of South Chungcheong Province. As a result of his left-wing populist views, he has been compared to American politician Bernie Sanders.[8][9]

Following his loss in the presidential election, Lee ran for Governor of Gyeonggi Province, which encompasses much of the Seoul Capital Area. During the 2018 gubernatorial election, he received scrutiny following the confirmation of a long-rumored affair with actress Kim Boo-sun[10]. Following his election, he faced legal issues stemming from alleged violation of campaign rules that put his governorship into question.[11] Lee has received acclaim for his response to the COVID-19 pandemic as Governor and is considered to be a top candidate in the 2022 South Korean presidential election.[12]

Lee Jae-myung stressed that the law should be fair, that chaebol owners should be punished if they commit illegal acts, and that the state should exercise its power delegated to the people for the well-being of the majority of the people, not for the minority of the privileged.

Major pledges for Gyeonggi Province governor in the 2018 local elections

Fact of crime

• Damage to public goods, obstruction of special public service execution: 5 million won fine - sentence on August 26, 2004

Nomination of false accusation and qualification of civil servant

On July 1, 2003, he was fined 1.5 million won for false accusation and impersonating a civil servant. However, it is closer to self-help than impersonation, and the ruling also states that "the degree of involvement is lower than that of PD Choi, who conspired to commit a fake crime."

In May 2002, Lee Jae-myung, who served as co-chairman of the committee to prevent unfair use change at Baekgung Station in Bundang, was the head of the Seongnam People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy (then Seongnam Citizens' Association), and while KBS PD was interviewing him at the lawyer's office about the Parkview Special Benefits case in Seongnam City, the producer lured him to "tell me the truth because I'm the prosecutor in charge" from Seongnam City, and reported him, a few days later. In the case, Lee Jae-myung was fined 1.5 million won for "frauding of false accusation and qualifications for civil servants." The court said, "We will reduce the sentence considering the fact that he impersonated a prosecutor, but his participation is lower than that of Choi (31. Broadcasting PD), who conspired to commit the crime, and that Kim canceled the charges." Regarding Lee Jae-myung's alleged violation of the election law, the court acquitted him of the charges in the first trial, saying, "If we distributed the fact to reporters that there was a considerable reason to believe it was true and provided it as a judgment material to allow voters to exercise their right to vote properly, it would be in the first trial."

Distribution of onsite business cards at subway stations

On April 28, 2011, the Supreme Court upheld the original ruling that fined victims 500,000 won for violating the Public Official Election Act. The Public Official Election Act prohibits prospective candidates from giving business cards or appealing for support in public places where many people, who are prescribed by the National Election Commission rules, come and go on subway stations, but Lee Jae-myung distributed 300 business cards as preliminary candidates in the district of Sanseong Station on Subway Line 8 in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam City in April 2010.

crime of publicizing false facts

In the June 13 local elections, the Supreme Court ruled that he was not involved in forced hospitalization of his brother again, considering that he was not legally involved in the abuse of authority, although there was a controversy over his acquittal in the first trial when he was sentenced to a fine of 3 million won or more for invalidity in the election.(Supreme Court 2019 13328)

Controversy

Seongnam City Council Member's Defamation and insult

On July 4, 2018, Seongnam Jungwon Police Station sent Lee Jae-myung to the prosecution on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (Damage of Honor) and insulting him. In September 2017, Lee Jae-myung, who served as Seongnam mayor, disclosed the names and constituencies of eight lawmakers who opposed the proposal at the standing committee, along with a message on Facebook titled "They are Seongnam City's lawmakers who are the fourth to have a free school uniform," after the budget proposal of 2.9 billion won for free school uniforms presented to the plenary session of the Seongnam City Council was rejected.

controversy over abusive language of one's wife and wife

In 2012, Lee Jae-sun, the third eldest brother of Mayor Lee Jae-myung, disclosed a phone recording file to the media, saying, "Lee Jae-myung cursed while arguing with his wife, Park, over family issues." The 5th Civil Affairs Division of Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court accepted the injunction filed by Mayor Lee Jae-myung and his mother's relief name against Lee Jae-sun in August that year, and decided to pay 500,000 won per violation. However, as Mayor Lee Jae-myung emerged as a leading presidential candidate in 2017 following the 2014 local elections in which he challenged for re-election, the then edited recording of the conversation spread back to the Internet.

Mayor Lee Jae-myung admitted to swearing at his brother-in-law through Facebook last year, but explained that it was in the process of protesting against his brother who assaulted and verbally abused his biological mother at the time and his brother-in-law who sided with him. Lee also disclosed his family history in detail, saying, "Lee Jae-sun tried to take advantage of the public authority of his brother, who is the mayor of Seongnam, and tried to prevent it, but the conflict between the brothers grew."

Lee Jae-myung said on his Facebook page from the 11th to the 13th that his brother Lee Jae-sun swore to his mother, not to his brother Lee Jae-sun, and that the released recording file was made public with malicious editing. https://www.facebook.com/jaemyunglee1/posts/1257039664338118/

On November 22, 2016, Lee Jae-sun disclosed on Facebook that Lee Jae-sun was cleared of charges of injury and intimidation, and his brother-in-law said that Lee's explanation of how he swore at his wife was different from the facts of Lee's statement, as the recording of the incident involving his biological mother's assault occurred in mid-July 2012 and Lee's abuse of his wife was recorded in early and early June 2012.

controversy over the forced hospitalization of one's brother

The governor is suspected of being involved in forcing his elder brother, Lee Jae-sun, into a mental hospital. The BAREUNMIRAE Party filed a complaint on June 10, 2018, accusing him of attempting to force his brother into a mental hospital and disclosing false facts under the Public Official Election Act, which denied that he had abused actor Kim Boo-sun, while the Gyeonggi Bundang Police Station raided the Bundang Health Center on July 11. Later, additional raids were carried out on July 27. On October 12, 2018, the police conducted a search and seizure of residences and offices in connection with a complaint against the Public Official Election Act. On December 11, 2018, the southern branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office indicted him on charges of obstructing the exercise of his right to abuse his authority over forced hospitalization of his brother. On April 25, 2019, the prosecution demanded a one-and-a-half year prison term for the alleged abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights. On May 16, 2019, the first criminal department of Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court acquitted the first trial of charges of abuse of authority and obstruction of exercise of rights.

Release of transcripts of calls between spouse and nephew

The controversy over the forced hospitalization of his brother was once again controversial when a transcript of a phone conversation between Governor Lee Jae-myung's wife Kim Hye-kyung and his brother Lee Jae-sun's daughter Lee Ju-young was released on the Internet. According to the transcript, Kim Hye-kyung said, "What false information did I spread? I won't text the lady cleaning the streets like that. Am I the homeless lady on the street?" 'She's just, good. I've stopped your dad from being forced into hospital so far, but your uncle thinks it's because of you," he said with abusive language.

This is also largely in line with the conversation that Kim Young-hwan, a former Gyeonggi Province governor candidate from the Barun Mirae Party, said, noting that he had a transcript of Kim Hye-kyung.

controversy over plagiarism of master's thesis

Mayor Lee Jae-myung's alleged plagiarism in the paper was triggered in September 2013 when the Center for Research and Integrity Verification under Media Watch raised that "50 to 98 percent of the papers are suspected of plagiarism." In December of that year, the Seongnam Civic and Social Organizations Council demanded an explanation from Mayor Lee and Gachon University. Later, Gachon University conducted a research ethics committee investigation. "There is no basis for screening after five years, but it was determined that external credibility as a public institution cannot be overlooked due to persistent external suspicions," Gachon University explained. In the process, there was an objection that "the preliminary investigation is against the school rules," but he added, "As public opinion is hot due to external political wrangling, it is better to cover the interpretation of the 'period diagram' in the main investigation, so we handed it over to the main investigation (December 31)."

As the controversy grew, Mayor Lee notified Gachon University of his intention to "return his self" to the effect that he did not want to be embroiled in unnecessary controversy due to plagiarism but unnecessary political motives on Jan. 3, 2014. In response, the research ethics committee of Gachon University decided on February 24 of that year that there was no real benefit to conduct the main investigation and notified the graduate school of the cancellation of the degree.

However, on May 27 of the same year, the Graduate School of Public Administration returned to the Research Ethics Committee, saying, "The academic basis for canceling a degree on the wish of a student is unclear. Please give us the results of this survey." As a result, the paper became valid. Professor Lee Young-kyun (Department of Public Administration), who directed the paper, said, "The core of the paper was written from the experience of writers who were lawyers and civic group leaders in general, and it is not enough to overturn the qualification judgment at the time of the thesis review," adding, "Considering the general practice and academic achievement level of the thesis at the time, it is judged to be a perfect thesis."

Ferry Sewol Claims of Real Owner NIS'

Mayor Lee Jae-myung was embroiled in a controversy over the distribution of ghost stories by claiming on his Facebook page on December 28, 2014 that "I am confident that the NIS is the real owner of Ferry Sewol." Lee cited the fact that it is incomprehensible if the NIS is not the owner of the ship's toilet paper and even the employee's leave as the basis for the claim, that he reported to the NIS, not to state agencies such as the Navy and the Coast Guard, or to the National Intelligence Service, at the time of the Ferry Sewol accident, and the third to the Yangwoo Mutual Aid Association, which has experience in ship investment. Mayor Lee Jae-myung explained about the Yangwoo Mutual Aid Association, saying, "It is a groundless investment institution run by incumbent NIS employees and all operations are treated as a secret."

Similar to the suspicion, the family task force for the disaster claimed in July of that year that the NIS seemed to have been deeply involved in the management of Ferry Sewol in the work laptop found in the Ferry Sewol, but on October 6, the prosecution refuted the allegation, saying that the NIS only carried out security work based on related laws such as the NIS Act and security regulations.

Meanwhile, the civic group "Just Citizens' Action" filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, claiming that Mayor Lee is suspected of fabricating and disseminating unproven false information through SNS in connection with the Ferry Sewol disaster, and the mayor also had a war of words with Rep. Ha Tae-kyung on social media.

19th Presidential Election Requests

Ahead of the 19th presidential election, Mayor Lee Jae-myung called the 2012 presidential election a rigged election and demanded that the polling stations be counted. "The last presidential election was a rigged election that surpassed the March 15 election," he said on his SNS. Major election meddling by state agencies, vote rigging.... Many people suspect that the vote counting is illegal and the grounds to justify the suspicion are revealed, so we should block the vote counting with the ballot counting of polling stations," he raised the suspicion.

In response, the National Election Commission said in a press release, "There was no vote rigging, and it could not have been," adding, "We will strongly respond to acts that undermine public trust in the fairness of the election by raising suspicions of vote counting by listening to some arguments without objective grounds." The 18th presidential election ballot counting was conducted transparently and fairly in accordance with the law, and there was no denial, and we proved that there was no problem in the process of ballot counting by announcing the ballot counting site to observers and the media, and by disclosing the vote count suspicion and voting image files," he said.

But now Moon Jae-in 18 presidential election at a time when elected president is in the 19th president in The results of the survey, negative vote count was not Lee Jaemyeong, and her yet.Does not come up with raising suspicions about the opinion of my own.

Seongnam Demolitionary Incident

When he was a human rights lawyer, Lee Jae-myung defended the demolition workers of Pangyo, saying he would accept the right to move into LH apartments, but lost. The court judged that it was impossible to give the right to move in because the demolition workers may have built their houses after the announcement of development and wanted a price. Lee Jae-myung, who later became Seongnam mayor, proceeded with the demolition as scheduled, and a clash broke out in the process.

Lee Jae-myung filed a complaint against the Pangyo demolition committee's protest on charges of damage to public property, injury, obstruction of justice, violation of the Gypsy Law, and group assault, and interviewed the Hankyoreh newspaper with his entire right hand in a cast, which was reported under the title of "Group Violence of Refugees Destroy Democracy."

However, the video footage of the incident was submitted to the police, and all but one of the demolition workers was cleared of the charges and the arrest warrant was rejected. The original video of the case was released at a plenary session of the Seongnam City Council in 2011, and one of the alleged evictees was taken off by government officials and Lee pointed fingers at them and shouted, "As you are a current criminal, call the police and arrest them all." Despite his natural behavior in the video clip, critics said he disguised the demolition workers as perpetrators with casts on his unharmed hands. In a video reading, Human Rights News expressed its view that the issue was an accidental accident of demolition workers unless it was a mass assault.

Claims to select Labor Minister after the amnesty of Han Sang-gyun

Lee Jae-myung said he would be the first to name a labor minister when he participated in the "SBS presidential candidate public interview" on Feb. 14, 2017, adding that he would pardon Han Sang-kyun, former head of the KCTU, who is serving time.

Lee Jae-myung defended Han Sang-gyun, saying, "Doesn't politicians and chaebol management also work after committing criminal acts?"

Han Sang-gyun, former chairman of the National Assembly, however, said, "Let's show that I can paralyze the country because I will take responsibility," instigating violent protests such as knocking down police buses and setting fire with ropes, and planning illegal demonstrations through 23 meetings in advance, and some argued that Mayor Lee Jae-myung is far from calling himself a conservative and advocating the rule of law.

Controversy over interview attitudes after being elected governor of Gyeonggi-do Province

Lee Jae-myung said in an interview with JTBC shortly after his election as governor of Gyeonggi Province, "I will try to be firmly responsible for the role assigned to me and the parts I should be responsible for (as governor)." After the question of Kim Boo-sun's alleged scandal, he asked a distorted question, "What did you mean in detail if you had any responsibilities?" "I have no responsibilities." "Isn't that what you think?"

Later, Lee Jae-myung told his spokesman, "After this interview, don't take any more. Stop the interview and cancel it all because you keep talking nonsense. I'm going to hang up on you if you talk about something else during the interview. I'm not polite," he said with a furious reaction. Later, an interview with MBC was conducted, but he said, "You had a lot of difficulties at the end of the election. If you become governor...When the word came out, he immediately took off his earphones and ended the interview. A series of criticisms have been raised that the unilateral refusal to interview during the live broadcast is a failure to understand the proper role of the media as a public figure.

a controversy over radical utterances

remarks disparaging the disabled

Some pointed out that the purpose of the introduction could not be saved when local gift certificates, which Mayor Lee Jae-myung began to pay under the youth dividend policy, were traded on the Internet for cash. In response, Lee Jae-myung said in a rebuttal article on Twitter on January 22, 2016, "If you believe in such a report, you can be mentally retarded." When a netizen asked Lee Jae-myung's Twitter account, "mayor Lee Jae-myung, please take down his disparaging remarks about the disabled," Lee Jae-myung said, "I'm also a disabled person. There was no sub-subject, but I made a mistake. We will work harder to improve the human rights and welfare of the disabled and the underprivileged," he said.

Ban Ki-moon's Criticism

On December 21, 2016, Mayor Lee Jae-myung set an angle by criticizing the candidacy of then UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who hinted at running for president. "What did Ban Ki-moon do while he was in high-ranking government posts," Lee said on his SNS account. When you put the mask and Park Geun-hye pro-Japanese dictatorship, followed by a corrupt puppet of the power that has people will be judged. TV Chosun Abandoned Comments

On January 3, 2017, TV Chosun reported the rumor of Mayor Lee Jae-myung's forced hospitalization of his older brother at a mental hospital, and the suspicion of Seongnam demolition workers. Regarding the forced hospitalization of his older brother at a mental hospital, TV Chosun followed the late Lee Jae-sun's claim, saying, "The mother, brothers and sisters asked the health center to diagnose the abnormal behavior because they thought it was due to mental illness."Mayor Lee immediately notified TV Chosun of legal measures such as criminal charges, requests for correction reports and claims for damages, when malicious media such as TV Chosun ruined the country. Controversy over the Kim Boo-sun scandal

Kim Bu-sun confessed in 2007 that she enjoyed a date with a lawyer-turned-politician who introduced herself as a bachelor and slept with him. As the controversy ensued, he denied the relationship. In April 2013, she mentioned a fake bachelor in Sungnam on her Facebook page. I deleted it right away. When he did the same thing again in January 2016, Lee Jae-myung posted a lengthy post on his Facebook page to the effect that Kim Boo-sun was lying. In response, Kim Bu-seon apologized and posted an apology. Then Lee Jae-myung deleted his writing. In the process, reporter Joo Jin-woo's advice to Kim Boo-sun was reported during the 2018 local elections.

Two days before the June 10, 2018 local elections, he claimed in a news interview on KBS at 9 p.m. that he had an inappropriate relationship with Lee Jae-myung, a candidate for governor of Gyeonggi Province. Lee Jae-myung criticized KBS for undermining the neutrality of the media. On June 7, the Barun Future Party accused Lee Jae-myung of circulating false information under the Public Official Election Act, while Lee Jae-myung also filed a complaint with the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office on June 26 against former Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Young-hwan and Kim Boo-sun for circulating false information under the Public Official Election Act. The Bundang Police Station sent Lee Jae-myung to the prosecution on Nov. 8 for non-indictment in the case of Lee Jae-myung accusing Kim Young-hwan and Kim Boo-sun of the Public Official Election Act, and also on Dec. 11, the Barun Mirae Party's complaint against Lee Jae-myung was not indicted because there was no evidence to prove the violation of the Public Official Election Act. On January 9, 2019, Lee Wan-gyu, the editor of Epress, and the tentatively named Public Interest Complaint Group of 2019 citizens filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office against four people, Kim Boo-sun, Gong Ji-young, . Kim Young-hwan, and Lee Chang-yoon, on charges of innocence, violation of the Information and Communication Network Act.

Then all media outlets began to use the word "Hyegyeonggung Kim" when an anonymous Twitterian called the account "Hyegyeonggung Kim," referring to Kim Hye-kyung's name. Jeon Hae-chul also filed a complaint with the Gyeonggi Provincial Election Commission against the account.[56] Lee Jae-myung, on the other hand, denied the allegations, saying, "Hyegyeonggung Kim is never my wife." Pro-Moon netizens posted advertisements on the front pages of various newspapers, including the Hankyoreh, Kyunghyang Shinmun, and the Chosun Ilbo, asking for Lee's resignation. In addition, 13,797 people signed a collection of documents calling for Lee Jae-myung's resignation, titled "Waiting Period - Signatures and Collections of Opinions against Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party of Korea, a candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor election," and the collection was sent to Choo Mi-ae, floor leader Hong Young-pyo and Park Kwang-on, chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Party.

Netizens argued that it was "for justice = Kim Hye-kyung" based on the similarity of English name, birth month, and Twitter account name, residence, children, major, and mobile phone use.

The police concluded that the Twitter account in question belonged to Mrs. Kim Hye-kyung, but the prosecution cleared her of the charges, citing a lack of evidence.

the announcement and controversy of the police investigation results

On November 17, 2018, the cyber investigation unit of the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency announced the results of its investigation that the owner of the Twitter account "Hyegyeonggung Kim (@08__hkkim)" was Kim Hye-kyung, wife of Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung. The decisive evidence that the police pointed out the so-called Hyegyeonggung Kim Twitter account owner as the wife of Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung is the photo of Governor Lee's college admission. After analyzing all 40,000 posts posted on the Twitter account in question, the police confirmed that the same photo was posted on Kim's Kakao Story before and after the post or photo was posted on Twitter. In addition, the following ID, the same as the Gmail ID "khk63000" registered on the Twitter account, was withdrawn around April 2018, shortly after the investigation began, and the last access location was confirmed to be the residence of Governor Lee Jae-myung. Meanwhile, Hyegyeonggung Kim's account was actually operated between 2013 and 2017, for about four years and eight months, with a total of 47,000 postings posted during this period. Since it is possible to post 28 Twitter posts every day since 2013, there are suspicions about public accounts.

Conflicts between the pro-Moon vs. epitaphs in the Democratic Party of Korea have intensified over the Hyegyeonggung Kim controversy. The Democratic Party of Korea officially declined to comment, saying, "We need to see whether the prosecution is indicted or judged by the court," but public opinion on Lee Jae-myung's veto spread within the pro-Moon Democratic Party's supporters. Pro-Moon netizens posted critical comments on Governor Lee Jae-myung's Twitter account, saying, "I am deeply ashamed of your couple's abominable hypocrisy," "Don't burden the party and leave the party for now," and "Don't mention the president's name." Among the party's key figures, Rep. Pyo Chang-won of the main opposition Minjoo Party of Korea said, "If 'Hyegyeonggung Kim' is Kim Hye-kyung, Governor Lee Jae-myung should resign in responsibility," but added, "The police investigation has gathered circumstantial evidence to send opinions to the prosecution, but the governor's side is not fair." I think it's right to wait until it's revealed in court.Lee Hae-chan, chairman of the party, said informally to reporters asking about the allegations, "Stop it now" and "Stop it," raising controversy over his attitude by pushing reporters' microphones with his hands.

The opposition party launched a general offensive. The main opposition Liberty Korea Party said, "If Hyegyeonggung Kim is true, Governor Lee should immediately take responsibility and resign. The ruling Democratic Party of Korea, which nominated a false candidate, also left a comment that it should apologize, while the Bareun Mirae Party commented that the Democratic Party's neglect of the governor's case is a "moral plant party" that has no basis as a public party.

Governor Lee Jae-myung denied the allegations. Governor Lee criticized the police for their decision to indict his wife, saying, "I was indicted only by circumstances and doubts," and "I despair at the police who are bent on 'class B politics' rather than investigation." He also said that he would faithfully devote himself to the administration of Gyeonggi Province.

Governor Lee Jae-myung's coercive interview attitude regarding the allegations also sparked controversy over his personality. The reporter said to Governor Lee, "You file a lot of charges. When asked, "Are you accusing me of this?" Governor Lee Jae-myung turned his back on the camera of the broadcaster and looked at the reporter face-to-face just before boarding the official car, then grabbed the broadcaster's microphone by hand and said, "Get off this for a momentarily. The question sounds very malicious," he said. "There is nothing malicious about the question," the reporter retorted.

If Kim Hye-kyung is convicted of violating the Public Official Election Act on the case, Governor Lee Jae-myung may lose his post depending on his sentence. Election officials, accounting officers, spouses of candidates and lineal ascendants and descendants will lose their posts if they are fined more than 3 million won for violating the Public Official Election Act or the Political Funds Act.

In response to the incident, Governor Lee Jae-myung had said until the afternoon of December 11 that he was still a proud member of the Democratic Party and that he would do his best to serve as a member of the party, but the next day he decided not to exercise his rights as a member of the party, and resigned en masse from the posts of party members, central committee members, and members of the Good Local Government Committee. Leaders of the main opposition Minjoo Party of Korea have decided not to take disciplinary action against Gov. But pro-Moon supporters and party members protested the leadership decision not to take disciplinary action.

Controversy over Lee Jae-myung's mention of Moon Joon-yong's suspicion and Jeon Hae-chul's withdrawal of charges

Lee Jae-myung argued that in order for Kim Hye-kyung to be guilty of Hyegyeonggung Kim's charges, Kim Hye-kyung was the owner of a Twitter account, that she wrote a post on Twitter raising suspicions of Moon Joon-yong's preferential hiring, and that only when the suspicion of Moon Joon-yong's hiring preferential treatment is proven to be false can defamation be made by false facts.

On November 27, 2018, the prosecution raided the office of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Nam Kwang-woo, who was an executive at the Employment Information Service when Moon Jun-yong was employed, served as a close aide to Lee Jae-myung, raising the possibility that Lee Jae-myung, who was informed of the situation from Nam Kwang-woo, who was well aware of the full details of Moon's employment, confidently mentioned the suspicion of job favors. Kim In-won, a lawyer of the People's Party, argued that the suspicion of Hyegyeonggung Kim is 100 percent likely that the prosecution will not be able to indict him, as it is highly likely that Moon Joon-yong's preferential treatment for employment will be true and that Moon Joon-yong's appearance in court will be a nuisance.

As the controversy intensified, Jeon Hae-chul, who first accused Hyegyeonggung Kim, dropped the charges.

the results of the prosecution's investigation

On December 11, 2018, the prosecution indicted Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung, who is suspected of circulating false information under the Public Official Election Act of the Republic of Korea, and his wife Kim Hye-kyung was not indicted, citing a lack of evidence. Two days before the expiration of the statute of limitations on the seventh election, the couple closed the case.

Prosecutors said they strongly suspect that Kim Hye-kyung is the owner or user of the Twitter account, but judged that it is more likely that several people shared the account. Several people shared Khk631,000 Gmail registered in Hyegyeonggung Kim's Twitter account, accessed Twitter accounts through various devices, and personal information that did not match Kim Hye-kyung was found.

For the name of that Twitter,

The real name of the corresponding Twitter (08_hkkim) is "For Justice." Rep. Jeon Hae-chul of the main opposition Minjoo Party of Korea sued the account, claiming it was run by Lee Jae-myung's wife. The initials are the same as Kim Hye-kyung, and various personal information are identical, raising suspicions that she is the same person. Hyegyeonggung Kim is also nicknamed for this reason.

Controversy over Lee Jae-myung's mention of Moon Joon-yong's suspicion and Jeon Hae-chul's withdrawal of charges

SBS  <I Want to Know That> raised the suspicion of gang involvement, and Governor Lee strongly protested. I want to know that"Kim Hyung-jin, the leading suspect in the Pattaya murder case, was a member of Seongnam's largest organized crime group, the International Mafia, and suspicions began to emerge that a gangster from Seongnam's international mafia was hovering around the political circle," said Lee Jae-myung, the mayor of Seongnam City and Gyeonggi Province.

The Pattaya murder case was the murder of 25-year-old engineering student Lim Dong-joon in November 2015 at a luxury resort parking lot in Pattaya, Thailand. At that time, Lim went to Pattaya after being offered a high-yield part-time job and was killed after being detained and assaulted by a group of people who ran an illegal gambling site. Kim Hyung-jin, who was identified as the murderer, was captured in Vietnam in April 2018 and repatriated to Korea after fleeing, and the production team raised the possibility that an international mafia was behind his escape for more than two years.

In particular, he hinted at the possibility that Governor Lee was involved in the process. Governor Lee, who served as a human rights lawyer, is said to have defended two defendants in a 2007 arrest of 61 members of the gang "International Mafia" that caused a stir in Seongnam at the time. The production team also raised suspicions that former members of the organization actively participated in the campaign of Lee and other politicians.

The production team also suggested that Lee Jun-seok, a former member of the organization in question, was selected as an excellent small and medium-sized company by Seongnam City during Lee's tenure, despite the lack of qualifications for the famous Chinese electronics distributor "Komatrade."

In addition to Lee, suspicions have been raised regarding incumbent Seongnam Mayor Eun Soo-mi ahead of the June 13 local elections. Eun's former chauffeur, identified only by his surname Choi, once revealed that he paid his salary at Komatrade.

Meanwhile, suspicions were raised over Governor Lee's phone call after the broadcast that he was "sorry to call Wii," saying, "Isn't he trying to put pressure on the broadcast?" Producer Lee Kuhn-byul said, "I was told that I called the upper line, but I didn't feel pressured. CP also said, "Just cover well and broadcast it accurately, and take care of the basics better," adding, "There is no impact on the contents of the broadcast by Governor Lee's phone call." Also, "SBS representative and senior executive, I want to know that. I understand that you called Kim Sang-joong's management as well as the CP.
