He organized an attack against a group living in the sewers, but, in the process, was bitten, which injected vampire venom into his body. Carlisle realized what he was becoming and ran away. He spent many years trying to kill himself until he realized that he could use this power of his to do good. He learned to accept his fateand started to train himself to go long amounts of time without the consumption of blood, as well as ignore the effects of human blood on his vampire natural entirely, and he started to hunt just animals. Carlisle became a doctor and truly enjoys his job, as he loves to help people. Carlisle is the one responsible for turning the Cullen family. |

The fictional main male lead in Twilight (novel) by Stephenie Meyer. A member of the Cullen family, a clan of vampires that have decided to not feed off the blood of humans and feed off the blood of animals that they hunt, the Cullens reside in Forks, Washington. Edward falls in love with the main female character in the novel, Isabella Swann.
The books are written by Stephanie Meyers who will continue Edward Cullen in Eclipse (to be released late august/early september of 2007), and Breaking Dawn (to be released in 2008), also she is re-writing Twilight in Edward's perspective and it is to be called Midnight Sun (no date has been set for the release of the book as of yet).

Bella
Bella Swan moves to Forks, Washington from Phoenix, Arizona. Bella lived with her mother there before she left because her mother was getting married to another man and she is constantly away from Bella and home making her very unhappy, inturn Bella decides to go live with her real dad in Forks so as to make her mother happy.
Bella notices Edward at lunch and he notices her, Edward has a talent, he can read minds and so he obviously wants to know what the 'new girl' is thinking but when he tries, and ultimately fails, he is intrigued and disgusted by her.
All people have distinct smells, so does their blood, and Bella's smells like something extremely alluring and amazing. Edward has to fight himself constantly around her because he has to resist the urge to attack her. This becomes exceedingly difficult when they become a couple and attempt to have romantic moments, prooving it hard to hold and kiss each other some times.
