* A temporary fix helped wikis make their main pages more mobile friendly. This was in 2012. It has not been recommended since 2017. The mobile main page special casing stopped working 14 July. 60 wikis now have main pages that don't work well on mobile. WP:CVUA Training Request
Hey, I've been around and have done plenty of anti-vandalism, mainly while using Listen to Wikipedia, but also with WP:WCW as I come across it. I've been wanting to look into Huggle, but figured I should make an effort to complete the Academy first. Read up above on prior discussions and saw where you directed them to in your archive, read the indicated section. I already use Twinkle. Jerod Lycett (talk) 22:33, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Jerodlycett pls see the message title "Notes CVUA" below. Thanks Cassiopeia(talk) 14:04, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
NPR Training Request
I saw your availability on WP:NPPS and wanted to ask if you could show me the stuff to become a New Page Reviewer. I am a graduate of WP:CVUA, and did for a time hold temporary NPR rights, but eventually realized I needed someone to show me how to work the rights first before really using them. James-the-Charizard (talk to me!) (contribs) 22:35, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- James-the-Charizard, Greetings. Greetings. Thank you for interested in joining the NPPSCHOOL program. Please note that there is a lot more of reading and assignments as compared to CVUA. There is a total of 3 parts with 10 assignments and a final exam. Please make sure you enable WP:Twinkle and know how to provide hist diff. Once you have done the assignment and would like to get it review then ping me on the NPPSCHOOL program sub page (at the end of the assignment). I will usually review the assignment a day after you ping me. Do raise any questions of the review if there are any, if not and you are ready to proceed to next assignment then let me know and I will post it accordingly. Cheers. Cassiopeia(talk) 13:01, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for allowing me to do this. I do have Twinkle enabled, and am able to easily provide history diffs. James-the-Charizard (talk to me!) (contribs) 13:03, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- James-the-Charizard, I have set up the program for you and pls let me know if you have any question (on the program page - at the end of the assignment). Welcome to NPPSCHOOL. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 13:13, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Assignment 2
Hi, can I please have my second CVUA assignment? Thanks. P,TO 19104 (talk) (contribs) 23:43, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- P,TO 19104 Done, apologies as somehow I missed you ping. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:58, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
CVUA
Hi, I was wondering if you'd be able to take me on as a student for Cvua? I have just reached 200 mainspace edits and have wanted t do it for a long time. As You're the only available trainer, would you be ale to help? Ghinga7 (talk) 01:59, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Ghinga7 pls see the message title "Notes CVUA" below. Thanks Cassiopeia(talk) 14:04, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
CVUA training
Hello @Cassiopeia:, I have completed the assignment, you can review it. Please do mention where should I ping you or leave a note. Thanks and I'm eagerly waiting for your advise. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 12:19, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Notes CVUA
- @Jerodlycett and Ghinga7: Greetings. Thank you for interested in counter vandalism. Pls have a look the "Goals" and "Syllabus" sections below to understand the requirements needed at the end of the course in order to graduate from CVSCHOOL.
Goals
If you're new and/or inexperienced, before embarking on a Counter-Vandalism training programme, you should be able to demonstrate that you have already mastered the basic principles of editing the encyclopedia and contributed at least 200 edits to MAINSPACE. If you have previously been warned or requested to follow guidelines, you should have demonstrated that you have addressed these issues.
When you have shown through training that you have mastered the principles of Counter-Vandalism and can apply them with accuracy, and can communicate correctly and effectively with new users of all kinds you may be able to apply for permission to use restricted tools, such as, for example Rollback, and STiki that will enable you to semi-automate the process, while understanding that speed alone is not essential - the target is accuracy. When you have achieved these goals, you can display the {{User CVU0-en}} userbox on your user page.
Syllabus
Competency | Fail | Pass |
---|---|---|
Knowledge and Understanding of Concepts
Able to correctly define and describe:
|
|
|
Critical Thinking
Able to review historical reversions and identify whether such reversion were correctly categorized |
Correctly assessed fewer than 85% of the examples provided by their instructor. | Correctly assessed at least 85% of the examples provided by their instructor. |
Communication
Able to effectively communicate with other editors regarding reversions |
Communicates inconsistently with editors via talk page comments or in response to editors who question or challenge their reversions. | Communicates in a polite and professional manner and avoids biting other editors and harsh comments. |
Application
Effectively applies the concepts and tools of vandalism fighting in a productive and proficient manner. |
|
|
Please note that there are many editors who were interested in counter vandalism course and abundant the program mid way due to lack of anticipation of the amount of efforts/time needed in reading the program material, doing assigned "homework" and exams requirements . Generally, it would take an editor 1.5-2 months to finish the course. So do prepare yourself for lots of reading and homework.
Please make sure you enable WP:Twinkle and know how to provide hist diff - see here Wikipedia:Simplest diff guide. Once you have done the assignment and would like to get it review then ping me on the sub page (at the end of the assignment). I will usually review the assignment a day after you ping me. Do raise any questions of the review if there are any, if not and you are ready to proceed to next assignment then let me know and I will post it accordingly. One thing to note - very important - Do NOT revert more than 3 times within 24 hours on the same page if the edit you reverted are NOT considered blatantly vandalism for you will be blocked. Please bear in mind. Welcome to CUVA. Cheer. Cassiopeia(talk) 14:04, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
tony ferguson edit
i forgive you for your ignorance. i am the fighter who put Tony El Coochie Ferguson in the hospital in 2016. if you cant handle the truth thats your problem. i have police records and dna evidence.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Eriktriana (talk • contribs) 20:04, July 11, 2020 (UTC)
- Eriktriana Greetings. Your edits were reverted - see here because they are considered vandalism edits in Wikipedia ("name = Tony Ferguson got #bloodlunged by ERIK TRIANA", "nickname = El Coochie" and "I AM ERIK TRIANA AND I AM THE BEST 155 FIGHTER IN THE WORLD! I also gave Fergie a blood lung to match his vagina. REMATCH ANYTIME.". If you continues to edits in such fashion, you will be blocked. Sean O'Malley's nickname (Suga/Sugar infobox suggestion).
Hi there, the O'Malley nickname is such a 50/50 thing because in some places it's Sugar and others it's Suga which he often refers to himself. Do you think we should put this as a "Sugar/Suga" on his article as none are incorrect and both are equally used which I've just discovered myself after doing some research.
His merchandise is often "Sugar" but he refers to it as "Suga" a lot himself such as with his social media handles and YouTube videos he uploads.
Twitter: @SugaSeanMMA
Instagram: @SugaSeanMMA
His YouTube videos he always uploads as "Suga": Fwj37hwtH-k (paste this into YouTube to see).
Do you think we should amend this to "Sugar/Suga" in his infobox as both are referred to pretty equally, even by himself he uses both versions of this it seems and that way it covers them both.
On a side note Sherdog probably isn't the most reliable source, you may remember I corrected Arnold Allen's birthday to the correct day and you reverted my edit again until I showed you Arnold saying himself Sherdog and Wikipedia got it wrong. They're not really the best source to be honest as they've been known a few times to have things wrong.
Hope this helps :) UFC Cub Beavis (talk) 13:16, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- UFC Cub Beavis G'day. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. All mma fighters' nick names on the info box is as per Sherdog.com in Wikipedia (see the bottom of the infobox where the source is placed). Sherdog holds hundred of thousands mma fighters database, and it will understandable at times there would be some errors. MMA fighter table/record in Wikipedia is used Sherdog.com as per guidelines. Do note Wikipedia is not about the true but verifiability - see Wikipedia:But it's true!. It I have twitted Sherdog to inform them in at least in 3 separate occasions when I noticed errors (1) Arnold Allen's Sherdog page indicated his DoB 1994-01-17 but Allen's twitter page, UFC fighter state page, Tapology, ESPN all indicated his DoB is 1994-01-22 (2) Justin Tafa's fight record was 3-0 record at that time instead of 2-0 (3) DUDA SANTANNA is dead (Died:1969-12-31) while she was schedule to fight Bea Malecki at UFC Fight Night 153 and they have corrected the errors by Sherdog. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 04:35, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi! If you're still accepting students, I,would like to be trained under you. I am familiar with all of Wikipedia's policies, and have some experience in editing. I've already reverted a lot of vandalism and use Twinkle and RedWarn. Thanks! Geekpotato24 (talk to me!) 13:40, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Geekpotato24 G'day. Editor needs to have at least 200+ main space edit to join the CUVA program and you have only 98 edits so far - see HERE. Pls come back when you meet the requirement and at the mean time pls complete the WP:TWA program. Stay safe and than you. Cassiopeia(talk) 13:21, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for responding, I'll reach 200 in a few days. As for the adventure, I don't know why, but when it gets to the userpage step, I don't know how to go to the next step, I played it on a laptop and I used Chrome. But I don't think I need it anymore, as I'm familiar with the policies and have read through the editing tutorial, MoS, and WP: The Missing Manual. Thanks! - Geekpotato24 Try again tmr for TWA as it is important for you to know many important basic Wikipedia guidelines. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 14:12, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, I will try again this afternoon. I don't mean to sound rude, but I still think I already know the many WP guidelines, you can quiz me if you want. Again, thanks for willing to accept me, I will try to get 200 ASAP. Geekpotato24 (talk to me!) 14:19, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Geekpotato24 Take your time. We will also be here. Cassiopeia(talk) 14:20, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

CVU Academy request
Hi there, I'd be interesting in taking part in the counter-vandalism training program. I admit I've never done the Wikipedia adventure game, but hopefully I've already done enough edit to not need to at this stage. :) -Kj cheetham (talk) 20:15, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- Kj cheetham Good day. Thank you for interested to join the program. I usually would ask the participants to work through Wikipedia Adventure game if they are new editors. You have more than 15K edits and have created more than 5 articles in Wikipedia and I would think you know the basic Wikipedia core policies, 5 pillars, verifiability, collaboration, civility and etc guidelines. Kindly read the message titled "Notes CVUA" (a few message above this one) and do particular take notes on WP:3RR for a block will be in placed if you violate the guidelines (if you are not sure if the edit is considered a vandalism edit, then pls do not revert the edit). I have set up the program page for you. The motto of the Counter Vandalism Unit is Civility – Maturity – Responsibility and welcome to CVUA. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 12:58, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Much appreciated, I look forward to getting involved. -Kj cheetham (talk) 13:05, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Users can thank others for their edits. Checkusers can now see user data related to that action. This can help identify sock puppets who harass others using thanks. [1]
Problems
- Everyone was logged out a couple of weeks ago to fix a security problem. The problem was not entirely fixed. Because of this everyone was logged out once again last week. [2][3]
Changes later this week
- Wikis that are not for one specific language can translate pages. Sometimes parts of translations are outdated or missing. Outdated translations are marked with a pink background. Missing translations will also be marked in the future. This markup can sometimes break things. It can soon be disabled by using
<translate nowrap></translate>
on the source page. [4] - The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 14 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 15 July. It will be on all wikis from 16 July (calendar).

Assignment 2
Hi Cassiopeia,
I know you said that it will take 24 hours for you to review a CVUA assignment, but unfortunately it has been a little longer than that; can you please review my CVUA Assignment that I have completed?
Best, P,TO 19104 (talk) (contribs) 16:15, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- P,TO 19104 I have reviewed the assignment yesterday. Pls check the page. Secondly pls ping me about the program and assignment on the program page as mentioned before. Finally, I usually review 24 hours which does not mean I would do it every time as I might have other personal things to do. Be patient. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:26, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

- ArnabSaha Hi Good day. Thank you for interested in the program. I have a read on your userpage and noticed that you are currently "experiencing mental health issues and experiencing significant stress" and I would advice you to wait until your have resolve the issue before taking up the program or helping up in counter vandalism work as it is at times particularly stressful as editors who we warn would troll and sending message that is very disturbing, disgusting and threatening. Personally, I have received, death thread, law sue, and all the "four letter words" that one can imaging. I understand that you are a reviewer, I would be less stressful to review new page instead of doing counter vandalism work although reviewing require more knowledge than that of counter vandalism. Hello Cassiopeia (hope I am saying that correctly),
I saw your warning post about me editing the Michelle Waterson post and I would like to apologize for that. I am an American Ninja Warrior fan and I was working on adding American Ninja Warrior competitors from previous seasons into the American Ninja Warrior contestant category, as I noticed that the category was not completed. I saw that on either American Ninja Warrior Season 5 or American Ninja Warrior Season 6 (or a different season; it was one of them), I noticed that it said that Michelle Waterson competed on American Ninja Warrior during ANW qualifying. As a result, I added her to the American Ninja Warrior contestants category, not realizing that it was a mistake and that she never competed on the show. I apologize for that and what can I do to make sure I do not do the same mistake again and who were the others that did not appear on American Ninja Warrior that I gave the role to on accident?
Uxinator (talk) 23:12, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

Mcqscore . com is a spamref that goes to an unauthorized live streaming site. I'm pretty sure the refs were hijacked but I couldn't find the original so I removed all of it. -KH-1 (talk) 04:21, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- KH-1 Greetings and thank you for the information. IP has added the spam - see Here-1 and I have restored the ref - see [ Here-2 and the editor has been warned - see Here-3. Thanks again and stay safe. Best. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:31, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
CVUA Trainer
Hello! I would like you to be my trainer in the Counter Vandalism Unit Academy. I have over 800 edits and experience in counter-vandalism and was granted temporary rollback rights (which expire on July 31st). I have enrolled at the recommendation of the admin who gave me my rights, Kevin (L235). Of course, I am familiar with all the core Wikipedia policies (WP:5P, WP:AGF, WP:DBN and more) as well as when and when not to use counter vandalism tools. Thanks! Giraffer (stay home) 08:55, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- Giraffer Good day and thank you for interested in the program. Pls read message titled "Notes CVUA" - HERE and finished the WP:TWA. Once you have done TWA, pls pop back here and let me know. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 11:07, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- Done! Read the notes and finished TWA. It wouldn't load automatically though, so I had to help it along a bit, otherwise all good. Regards, Giraffer (stay home) 14:47, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- Giraffer G'day. I have set up the program page for you. Again please bear in mind, do NOT revert more than 3 times within 24 hours on the same page if the edit you reverted are NOT considered blatantly vandalism for you will be blocked. Let the edit alone if you are not sure what to do with it and let other more experience vandal fighters or editors who are familiar with the page to action. The motto of the Counter Vandalism Unit is Civility – Maturity – Responsibility. Welcome to CUVA. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 01:44, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
Please explain
This is where the links are already mentioned regarding UFC on ESPN: Eye vs. Calvillo:
-- Subsequently, a women's flyweight bout between former UFC Women's Flyweight Championship challenger Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo served as the new event headliner for Las Vegas. The event streamed on ESPN+ and aired on ESPN. --
-- *A middleweight bout between Karl Roberson and Marvin Vettori (originally scheduled for UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira, but Roberson pulled out due to issues related to his failed weight cut). --
-- A bantamweight bout between Tyson Nam and Ryan Benoit was scheduled for the event. However, Benoit withdrew from the event for an unknown reason and was replaced by promotional newcomer Zarrukh Adashev. --
Why do they need to be linked again, just because they're outside the body of text? This is not the norm for most other UFC event articles. Also, avoid reverting edits without checking them first. Take the time to actually fix mistakes that could've been made initially. — 29cwcst (talk) 03:15, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
- 29cwcst OK, read the whole page. My mistakes and thanks for letting me know. Cheers. Cassiopeia(talk) 03:36, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
Tim Elliott
Regarding this, prior to fights he always is introduced as fighting out of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, including his fight Saturday.--Rockchalk717 07:33, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
- Rockchalk717 Good day. Wikipedia is all about verifiability and editor who add/change the info need to provide source to back up the claim - see WP:PROVEIT. If you would provide the source then go ahead to change the info. (make sure citation is needed). Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:55, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
- I’m aware, I don’t you need to quote policies to me, I’ve been doing this for 9 years. His sherdog says he trains at Glory MMA, which is already sourced in the article, not to mention it was literally Lee’s Summit for years without a source, dating back to when I first created the article, now all of sudden it’s a problem??. Leave it as Lee’s Summit. The verification is in the pre fight announcements and his Sherdog.--Rockchalk717 16:46, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
- Rockchalk717 As you aware content need to be supported by source then add source in as per claim as per WP:PROVEIT. Stay safe and thank you. Cassiopeia(talk)

Accidental sig change
I had a total WTF moment when I saw that their signature led to a blocked IP, but you changed a signature in your reply. Jerod Lycett (talk) 09:45, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

New Page Patrol School
Hi, it's WikiMacaroons. I'm interested in becoming a New Page Reviewer, and have been reading the guidelines. I found your name in the list of available NPR school instructors, and I was wondering (if that's not outdated) if you could take me on. Thanks in advance, WikiMacaroonsCinnamon? 09:59, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
- WikiMacaroons Good day. NPPSCHOOL program is a comprehensive program which requires the participant to spend time to read provided material (WP pages) and do the assignments. The project consists of 3 parts with 10 assignments and 1 final exam. It covers notability, sources, tagging, wiki project, subsort, wiki content policies, CSD, PROPS, AfD, communication, review and much more topics. Participant usually takes 2-3 months to complete the program (it depends how much time you spend on the program). Many participant abandoned the program due to the find they need to spend more time on the assignments/reading material as they anticipate. Once you have complete the program, you would equip with the knowledge to review new pages. Let me know if you are still interest to join the program after reading the info above. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia(talk) 10:14, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response. I didn't realise it was that much, but I am ready to commit. However, because it appears the school is more onerous than previously thought, I will be ready to commit once I've finished my CVUA course, which I'm some of the way through. Again, thanks for offering to take me on, and I hope I can get back to you in a month or two. WikiMacaroonsCinnamon? 12:35, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
- WikiMacaroons I noticed your CVUA program is under Girth. He is a very polite and good trainer. I am also of the CUVA trainer, and the CUVA program is a lot more easy and less complicated than that of NPPSCHOOL. To say that CUVA program would help you in certain ways when you do the NPPSCHOOL program. It is a good idea to start the NPPSCHOOL after your CUVA program as it will lessen the workload and gain some basic understanding of Wikipedia guidlines prior embark NPPSCHOOL. Pop back here whey you are ready to stay the program and at the meantime stay safe. Best. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:47, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
July 2020 Information icon Hello, I'm Cassiopeia. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Ultimate Fighting Championship, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Cassiopeia
A source at this point would be hard to come by. It was over 20 years ago. However it is true history of the UFC trademark. Lorenzo Fertitta became a partner in the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company when they expanded to Las Vegas. I was already doing graphic design for Dean Biersch in Palo Alto, CA when I met Lorenzo at a Brewery opening in San Diego at Dean's introduction. Said he was planning to buy out a new fighting league. In the fall on 1999 he came to our office in Palo Alto, sat down with us and we developed the new brand. Unless someone wants to dispute it, I would include it without citation. It is a worldwide recognized trademark now. Would be nice to have the origins documentend somewhere for prosperity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.218.53.226 (talk) 09:43, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
- @62.218.53.226: Good day. Thank you for the message above. Wikipedia is all about verification. When editor add/change the content, they have to provide source to support the content claim - pls see WP:PROVEIT. Secondly, since you are connected/associated with UFC/Lorenzo Fertitta, which means you have a conflict of interest here to edit the page for lsuch you are strongly discourage to edit any associated pages in Wikipedia. What you could do it to provide an independent, reliable sources such as from the newspapers in the article talk page and request other editor to make the edit for you. Thank you and stay safe in Austria. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:51, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

Recent changes
- A temporary fix helped wikis make their main pages more mobile friendly. This was in 2012. It has not been recommended since 2017. The mobile main page special casing stopped working 14 July. 60 wikis now have main pages that don't work well on mobile. You can see which ones, how to fix it and how to get help in Phabricator. This is the same problem that was reported in Tech News 2020/24 and 2020/26.
Problems
- There is a problem with the interlanguage links. The interlanguage links are the links that help you find a specific page in a different language. The sorting is broken. The developers are working on a solution. [9]
- Some users keep getting the notifications for the same event. Some of these are old events. [10]
- Some users have trouble logging in. This is probably a browser cookie problem. The developers are working on understanding the problem. If you have trouble logging in you can see the details on Phabricator. [11]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 21 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 22 July. It will be on all wikis from 23 July (calendar).
Future changes
- There is a
Printable version
link. This will disappear. That is because web browsers today can create a printable version or show how it will look in print anyway. [12]
