Horrid Henry is a British children's animated sitcom, based on the popular book series of the same name by Francesca Simon. It is produced by Novel Entertainment, broadcast from 31 October 2006 on CITV. It is now currently aired on Nicktoons, Nickelodeon and Netflix in the United Kingdom since 28 May 2018 and [[Toon-A-Vision]] [[Netflix]] in Canada.[5] The animation style differs from the Tony Ross illustrations in the books.
The series producer is Lucinda Whiteley[6] and the animation director is Dave Unwin. The series has broadcast in more than a 90 countries,[7] including France, US, Germany, South Africa, India, Pakistan, South Korea, Russia and the Philippines.[8]
The incidental music is composed by Lester Barnes,[9] and additional songs are composed by Lockdown Media. Three series were aired, with 52 episodes each. The fourth series started on 11 October 2014 with another 52 episodes making it 208 in total.
On 10 May 2018, Nickelodeon UK[10] announced they had acquired the broadcast rights to all the seasons of the show, and it premiered on 28 May 2018 on Nicktoons in the UK and Ireland with a special "Horrid Half Term".[11] On the same day, Novel Entertainment ordered 42 new episodes slated to start airing in early 2019. The final episode aired on 21 May 2019. Series 5 took the episode count to 250 in total. Horrid Henry then officially confirmed that there would be another 42 episodes on Nicktoons.[12]
Horrid Henry was broadcast on Nicktoons UK in 2018[13][14] and quickly became the channels most popular show. In 2019 the series was the number three most watched animation across all the UK's commercial TV services.
Horrid Henry: The Movie, is a live action 3D movie based on the TV show, which was shown in cinemas in 2011 with an all star cast, including Noel Fielding, Jo Brand, Theo Stevenson and Richard E Grant.[15]

The show was released on DVD only in the United Kingdom. Series 1 was released on 4 May 2012. Series 2 was released on 31 October 2013. Series 3 was released on 22 September 2014. Series 4 was released February 2016 and series 5 was released in 2019.

Soundtrack
In November 2009, the series produced one music album, Horrid Henry's Most Horrid Album.[22] In December 2019, Horrid Happy Christmas was released on Spotify and iTunes. Horrid Henry's Horrid Album will be released in early 2020. New tracks including My Song, Born To Be Rude, Wanna Be Me and Too Cool For School featured on the Vue Cinema special and will be released on the album.[23]
Horrid Henry: Unlocked!
In April 2020, it was revealed that a podcast entitled Horrid Henry: Unlocked! would be broadcast on Spotify and iTunes every Sunday. Presented by Lizzie Waterworth (as herself and Henry), and children's radio presenter "Silly" Sean Thorne, the series features a variety of fun and games, as well as short stories narrated by the title character based on episodes from the TV series. Episodes run from 20 to 50 minutes. On July 12, 2020, it was revealed that the podcast would have a second series during the Autumn, after the school holidays.
Series 1 (2020)
Series one began on 26 April 2020 and ended on 12 July 2020. The final episode was a double length bonus, due to the upcoming end of term at the end of July; during the episode, it was hinted that a new series of Unlocked! would return sometime in September, and well as a variety of Horrid Henry media would be coming out over the summer holidays.
