Małgorzata Szutowicz (known more widely as Margot) [1] is a Polish non-binary LGBTQIA activist and co-founder of the Stop Bzdurom collective. The collective is dedicated to stopping hate groups from spreading misinformation about LGBT individuals. Margot is most prominently known for being accused by Polish authorities of slashing the tires of a van known for broadcasting hateful sentiments and joining other activists in gracing statues across Warsaw, including one of Jesus, with rainbow flags and pink masks bearing the anarcho-queer symbol.
Activities
On 27 June 2020[2] a car belonging to an anti-choice foundation, emblazoned with homophobic slogans and equipped with loudspeakers to broadcast similar messages, was attacked by a group of left wing activists. The car suffered damage to a tyre, a mirror, and the number plate. Margot was arrested on 7 August 2020 and placed in police custody for a period of two months. Following the police repressions that she faced, various groups of people protested against the disproportionate force that the state used against her, claiming it was a political arrest. As a result of that 48 more people were arrested on the alleged grounds of obstruction of justice (despite the activist offering herself to the police as soon as they came to collect her). [3] As of now, she's being held in a penitentiary facility in Płock.
