R. Bharat, officially known as Republic Bharat is a Hindi news vertical of Republic Media Network, launched on 2 February 2019.[2][3][4][5] With the slogan 'Rashtra Ke Naam' [6]The owner of the channel is Arnab Goswami and the editor of the channel is Shamsher Singh.[7]

It is also available on DD Free Dish.[8] It is a sister channel of Republic TV which broadcasts news primarily in English.

Ratings

In March 2020, Republic Bharat entered into the top 3 news channels in the genre.[9] In April 2020, it was reported that Republic Bharat leaped to the number 2 viewership spot.[10] In April 2020, it was reported that Arnab Goswami’s own Hindi show ‘Poochta Hain Bharat, Arnab ke Saath’ became the number 1 Hindi news show in its slot.[11]

Republic Media Network plans to launch news channels in all major Indian languages,[12] and will expand its news operations globally.[12]

Launch & Success

India

Republic Bharat was launched in India on 2 February 2019 through various satellite and cable platforms.[13] The campaign for the channel launch was centred around the theme of nationalism with the tagline ‘Rashtra Ke Naam’. [13]

Republic Bharat’s launch campaign reached out to 150 million viewers of the HSM market.[14][15]Republic Bharat’s outdoor promotion spanned over 700 hoardings spread across 53 cities in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha.[13]

The channel recorded a reach of 73 million in week 6 of BARC data (Market: All India, TG: NCCS 15+, Time band: All time band).[16]

United Kingdom

Republic Bharat launched in the United Kingdom through the Sky platform on August 15. The channel is available at a premium position on channel number 708.[17] Republic Bharat has a separate UK beam with locally curated programs and events.[18] Republic Bharat has met a huge amount of success with the UK audience and has been regularly topping the Indian news genre.[19] Republic Bharat’s strongest timeband has emerged to be between 21:00 and midnight in the UK.[20]
