"Jamie's Cryin" is a song by Van Halen from their 1978 debut album, Van Halen. The song was written and recorded live during the three week sessions for the album. The song discusses a woman who meets a man that only wants a one-night stand. She turns him down, but is sad for what might have been. Drummer Alex Van Halen identifies this song as his least favorite Van Halen song. |

For recording of the song vocalist David Lee Roth wanted to go for a cleaner "poppier" sound and quit smoking and drinking for a week before the final version was to be recorded. The band noticed the difference on Roth's vocals on what was to be the album version and Ted Templeman ordered him outside to smoke a cigarette. He smoked one, and drank half a bottle of whiskey, returning half an hour later and recording the track with more huskiness to his voice in about 45 minutes.
Eddie Van Halen's melodic line in the song's chorus bears a strong resemblance to the guitar melody in Lalo Schifrin's 1976 jazz instrumental "Baia."
"Jamie's Cryin'" was sampled in the 1988 single " Wild Thing" by Tone Loc.
