Pearl Academy has also collaborated with Royal College of Art, UK, to exclusively offer the world’s first '''‘'''Designing Services and Products with Artificial Intelligence'''’''' courses to any student in India. The 10-week blended learning programme, developed and taught by the RCA faculties with delivery support from Pearl Academy, gives its students a strategic and applied understanding of the design principles supporting human-to-human-to-AI interactions, to develop AI ecosystems supported by products and services. The programme blends theoretical and practical units that teach how to deploy AI for fostering personal creativity and pursuing career ambitions but also for developing a responsible, inclusive, accessible and sustainable strategy to innovation through design. The students will benefit and develop skills by experimenting with AI creatively to support the development of an individual project or to collaborate in an industry-sponsored project.

Pearl Academy (formerly Pearl Academy of Fashion) is an academy offering undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma pathways in design, fashion, media, and business.

History

Starting with a campus in Okhla in South Delhi, the academy later moved to a larger campus in Naraina and their new recent branch in Rajouri Garden, in the West of the city.

Expansion saw campuses being added in Jaipur (2005) and Mumbai (2014).[1] The Jaipur centre moved to a custom design-and-build campus in 2008, after which another campus in Noida opened in 2012. Kolkata & Bangalore campus will start to function from 2020.

In 2012 the institute's name was changed to Pearl Academy.[citation needed]

The academy has over 4,500 students and over 340 academic staff.

Campuses

As of November 2019 the institution has six centers in India: Delhi NCR West, the academy's oldest campus, located at Naraina; Delhi South which is located in New Friends Colony; Pearl Academy Jaipur, located at Kukas; and another campus in Mumbai located in Andheri. Kolkata and Bangalore campus will start to function from 2020.

The Jaipur campus was designed by architects Morphogenesis and completed in 2008.[2] The design uses traditional cooling methods found in the desert environment of Rajasthan, such as a step-well in the centre and the use of Jali-inspired structures.[3] It won the award for 'Best Learning Building' at the World Architecture Festival Awards held in Barcelona, Spain in 2009.[4] The Jaipur campus of Pearl Academy recently hosted the Jaipur Design Carnival. Jaipur Design Carnival was conceived as a designers’ festival to celebrate the power of design. Many creative practitioners from diverse fields design participated in the event. There were panel discussions, fashion shows, live music, workshops, and display of artifacts. The event was organized by the faculty and students of Pearl Academy Jaipur and the workshops were conducted by students of Pearl Jaipur. More than 15 Alumni of Jaipur has showcased their collection at renowned fashion weeks such as New York Fashion Week Runway, Lakme Fashion Week, Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week, Amazon India Fashion Week to name a few. Students of Jaipur campus has won renowned National and international awards and are well placed in the Industry.

The latest campus (Mumbai) was officially launched on 16 April 2014 by Sussanne Khan, Interior Designer and founder of design studio 'The Charcoal Project', who announced her support for students of the academy by way of Scholarships.[5]

Academics

The Academy has the following Schools: School of Fashion, School of Design, School of Contemporary Media and School of New Age Business.

Apart from the flagship program in Fashion Design, notable[citation needed] courses include Interior Product Design and Luxury Brand Management, both among the first in India for these subjects. For the academic year 2017–18, Pearl introduced scholarships for new entrants.

International alliances

At Pearl, many international students enroll for a semester / one full year – level study or opt for customized programs of 6 – 8 weeks duration to understand the Indian manufacturing, retail, craft & heritage, garment industry, traditional fabrics, accessories, embroideries, graphic design, jewelry design, fashion merchandising & apparel production, etc.

The existing collaborations include that with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID), Retailers Association of India (RAI), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and is affiliated to AMHSSC (Apparel, Made-ups, Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council)

Student life

Pearl Utsav[6] is a fest organized annually by students to serve as a platform for demonstrating talent in music, drama, dance and other performing arts.

Pearl Academy is count in top most academy of Delhi NCR. Other top Beauty academies are Lakme Academy, Meribindiya Academy and VLCC Academy located in Delhi NCR.
