Jiří Procházka (born October 14, 1992) is a Czech mixed martial artist, who is currently competing in the Light Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Widely considered as the best mixed martial artist from Czech Republic, he competed organizations like Gladiator Championship Fighting (GCF), Fight Nights Global and Rizin Fighting Federation. Procházka became the Light Heavyweight Champion in GCF in 2013 and in Rizin in 2019. Procházka also holds notable victories over Vadim Nemkov, Muhammed Lawal, Fabio Maldonado, C. B. Dolloway and Volkan Oezdemir. As of October 6, 2020, he is #5 in the UFC Light Heavyweight rankings.

Mixed martial arts career

Early career

Procházka started his professional career in April 2012. By the end of 2012, Procházka compiled a record 5-1 with a loss against a future UFC fighter Bojan Velickovic. In 2013, Procházka won his first professional title with the KO win over Martin Šolc at GCF 26 - Fight Night on December 7, 2013.

In years of 2014 and 2015, Procházka fought mostly in domestic organization and in russian organizations. His only submission loss came from Abdul-Kerim Edilov, future UFC fighter, on June 20, 2013 at Fight Nights - Battle of Moscow 12.

Rizin Fighting Federation

2015

In 2015 Procházka signed with the Japanese mixed martial arts organization Rizin Fighting Federation and on December 29, 2015 made his debut against Satoshi Ishii, future Bellator fighter, in the quaterfinals of 100kg Heavyweight Grand Prix. Procházka defeated Ishii via KO in the first round. On December 31, 2015 Procházka fought Vadim Nemkov in the semifinals and defeated via TKO (Retirement) after the first round. Procházka faced Muhammed Lawal in the finals and lost by KO in the first round.

2016

At Rizin Fighting Federation 1 on April 17, 2016 Pocházka face Kazuyuki Fujita. Procházka won by KO in the first round. Procházka participated in another Rizin Grand Prix tournament in 2016 and defeated a lebanese fighter Mark Tanios via decision. Procházka was supposed to face Baruto Kaito on September 25, 2016 in the second round of the Grand Prix, however, Procházka was injured and couldn't participate in the second round of the Grand Prix, and was subsequently replaced by Tsuyoshi Kohsaka.

2017

After nearly a year long layoff, on September 29, 2017 Procházka served as the main event at Fusion FN 16 - Cage Fight that was held in Brno, Czech Republic. Procházka defeated a brazilian fighter Wilian Roberto Alves via TKO in the first round. Procházka came back to Rizin Fighting Federation at the end of the year 2017 and fought Karl Albrektsson. Procházka won in the first round by KO.

2018

In 2018, Procházka fought three times in the Rizin Fighting Federation. On July 28, Procházka defeated Bruno Henrique Cappelozza via KO. On September 30, Procházka won against Jack Heun by KO. On December 31, Procházka faced Brandon Halsey, former Bellator Middleweight Champion, and defeated him via TKO.

2019

In 2019, Procházka faced again Muhammed Lawal at Rizin 15 - Yokohama on April 21, 2019 for the inaugural Rizin Light Heavyweight Championship. After an impressive performance from Procházka, he defeated Lawal in the third round via KO. At Rizin 19 - Osaka, Procházka faced Fabio Maldonado, former UFC fighter, and defeated him in the first round by KO. Procházka then proceeded to defend his Rizin Light Heavyweight Championship against another former UFC fighter C. B. Dolloway at Rizin 20 - Saitama, on December 31, 2019. Procházka won in the first round by KO.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

In January 2020, Procházka signed a contract with the UFC and made his promotional debut against Volkan Oezdemir at the UFC 251 on July 12, 2020. After the close first round, Procházka managed to KO Oezdemir in the second round. Procházka earned the Performance of the Night award.
