Plot

Production
Development
On November 8, 2019, it was announced that Paramount Pictures would distribute the dark satire “Don’t Look Up,” with Adam McKay writing, directing and producing under his Hyperobject Industries banner.[1] On February 19, 2020, Netflix acquired the film from Paramount.[2]
Casting
On February 19, 2020, Jennifer Lawrence was cast in the film.[2] On May 12, 2020, it was announced that Cate Blanchett had joined the film.[3] In September 2020, Rob Morgan joined the cast.[4] In October 2020, the rest of the cast was revealed.[5]
Filming
On February 19, 2020, it was announced that principal photography will start in April 2020.[2] However, it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[6]
Filming will commence on November 19, 2020, in Boston, Massachusetts.[7]
Release
On February 19, 2020, it was announced Netflix will release the film in 2021.[2]
