Zachariah Green was a reknowned philanthropist and healer. He was born in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire on May 15th 1817 and died in January 1897. He is burried in the Parish Church of St Mary Magdalene, Hucknall.

Zachariah Greens charitable work earned him a widespread reputation, he is even reputed to have treated the Lord Mayor of Nottingham. As payment for his services as a healer he demanded only the cost of ointments and medical supplies, which boosted his popularity.

After his death, his charitable work was continued by his son, Samuel (1851 - 1915) Grandson, (1892 - 1932) and granddaughter Mary (1888 - 1980).

A granite monument which now bears the names and deeds of each familly member was erected to the memory of Zachariah Green in Hucknall Marketplace. The monument was relocated to Titchfield Park, Hucknall, following redevelopment of the town centre. The monument bears the following inscription:
