Club Atlético Cerro
Club Atlético Cerro, usually known simply as Cerro is an Uruguayan football club based in Montevideo. They currently play in the Uruguayan 2nd Division. It is considered that they are the 4th most popular team in the Uruguayan capital.
Football violence
On March 11, 2006 Hector da Cunha was fatally stabbed and his 12-year-old son was beaten following Peñarol's 1-0 victory over Cerro. A teenage boy, meanwhile, remained hospitalized with severe injuries after he also was stabbed in the chest, authorities said.
Da Cunha's killing was the ninth fan death related to soccer since 1957 in Uruguay. But authorities said they have been alarmed by a rash of lesser injuries that have arisen in recent years as police have sought to control rowdy fans.
