Rob Sand (born August 12, 1982) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 33rd Iowa State Auditor since 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
Career
Sand is from Decorah, Iowa. He graduated from Decorah High School in 2001.[1] He graduated from Brown University in 2005 and the University of Iowa College of Law in 2010.[2] Sand served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Iowa Attorney General's office from 2010 through 2017.[3] He prosecuted the Iowa Film Office tax credit scandal [4][5][6] and the Hot Lotto fraud scandal.[7][8]
In the 2018 elections, Sand ran for Iowa State Auditor as a Democrat.[3] He defeated Republican Mary Mosiman, the incumbent, in the general election.[9] Sand was sworn into office on January 2, 2019.[10]
