Eastside Bounty Hunter Bloods

Prior to the formation of the Bounty Hunters, the main group in this area was the Green Jackets. The Bounty Hunters started around 1969/1970 and was firmly established by 1972. It is believed that Gary Barker was very influential during Bounty Hunter's beginnings. Also Bobby Jack (b. 1955) was one of the founding members. The Bell Haven Bounty Hunters formed around 1978 to the west of Central Avenue just south of the train tracks. Around 1981, Renee McGowen began the Lot Bounty Hunters. They eventually have formed the following subsets; Lot Boys, Block Boys, Bell Haven, Ace Line on 111th Street, Duece Line on 112th Street, Tray Line on 113th Street, Four Line on 114th Street, and Five Line on 115th Street. Their main rival would be the Grape Street Watts in the Jordan Downs Housing Projects but since 1992 there was a truce between them and the other gangs in Watts. Although the truce has been in effect for some time, there are occasional problems between the Crips and Bloods in Watts, but not like had occurred during the late 1980s.

Michael "Harry O" Harris and Mike Conception are from this neighborhood. Harris produced a play in 1987 called "Checkmates" that starred Denzel Washington and is considered the financial muscle behind the formation of Death Row records while he was in prison. Harris was convicted of the kidnapping and attempted murder in 1987 and is currently serving 28 years in a California State prison.

Although Mike Conception claimed Crip, much of him family were Bloods from this neighborhood and he was born in Watts. Conception was a serious hustler and pimp and was paralyzed during a dice game when he was 21, but he got into the music producing business during the mid 1980s, and he worked with Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, MC Hammer, Digital Underground and others when he produced the popular west coast version of "Self Destruction" called, "We're All in the Same Gang" in 1989. An inteview with Mr. Conception appeared in the 1999 F.E.D.S. Magazine (Vol.2, Issue #6) that goes into more detail.

Their main area, which is in the Nickerson Gardens Housing Projects is from 108th Street (north) to Imperial (south) between Compton Ave (east) to Central Ave (west). They occupy an area of 0.54 square miles making them the largest Black gang territory in Watts.
