Infinite Flight is an amateur flight simulator developed by Infinite Flight LLC.[1] The simulator is written in C#[2] and is available for Android and iOS. The app was first released in April 2011, initially on Windows phone.[3][4] At this time, the app was ranked in the top 50 paid games for Windows devices[5]. Support for iOS devices was added in September 2011[6], with Android following in 2013.[7] Infinite Flight initially started with predefined regions only, and in version 2.8 in December 2012 had added 3 regions to the simulator.[8] By 2015 the simulator had 17 free aircraft, 18 paid aircraft, and 14 total regions.[9] During 2015, Infinite Flight released Infinite Flight Live allowing for online flying with others alongside live air traffic controlling done by other users.[10]
Gameplay
The game features single-player and multiplayer modes in which players can fly a variety of aircraft or control the airspace as an air traffic controller.
Reception
In 2012, The Mac Observer gave the first release a score of 2.5/5 ("Disappointing"), comparing it negatively to other flight simulators.[11] In 2014, Engadget considered Infinite Flight one of the best on the App Store[12] and The New York Times called it the best on mobile devices.[13] FlightSim.com later wrote approvingly of the just-released C-130 aircraft, saying that the game's newer models were much better than earlier models.[14] After the release of Infinite Flight Live in 2017, The Points Guy UK included Infinite Flight in 7 Best Apps for Aviation Geeks.[15] In 2018, British Airways included Infinite Flight in their Best App For Flying Geeks in their Club Magazine.[16] In 2020, iPad Pilot News described Infinite Flight as "the platform of choice for running a flight simulator directly on Android and iOS devices".[17]
