Tobit "Tobi" John Brown (born 8 April 1993), also known online as Tobjizzle, TBJZL or Tobi Lerone[2], is a YouTube personality, host, rapper and member of the Sidemen. His debut single destined for greatness reached number 31 in the UK OCC charts.[3] He currently has over 4 million subscribers on his primary channel on YouTube.[4] In 2019 he was listed as the 38th most important influencer in the UK according to the Sunday Times.[5]

Background

Tobi was born on 8 April 1993 in Hackney, London to a working class family of Nigerian heritage.[1] He has two brothers: Jed & Manny (who is also a youtuber) & three sisters.[6]

Tobi attended St. Dominic's Catholic Primary School from 1997 until 2004. When he was 11, Tobi began attending Bexley Grammar School which is where he became friends with fellow Sideman Josh.[7] He would later attend Coventry University before becoming a YouTuber.

He is an avid supporter of Manchester United.[8]

He is an active anti-racist activist and has spoken out on racism within football with Sky Sports.[9]

YouTube

Tobi joined YouTube in 2011 after he saw Joshua Bradley, another member of The Sidemen (also known as Zerkaa) gaining traction on the platform. Tobi was part of the original five Sidemen and has been part of the group since October 2013. In addition to his gaming videos, Tobi posts real-life videos with his brothers and the rest of the Sidemen.

In 2019, Tobi founded a clothing line called ILLVZN and with the Sidemen reached number 77 in the charts with The Gift. In early 2020 he helped host coverage of the Winter Youth Olympic Games.[10]

In February 2020, he made a song with his brother Manny and his sister Janellé called Destined For Greatness which reached number 31 in the charts.
