Zurab Rtveliashvili, Georgian poet and multi-media performer. Born 1967 in Karaganda, Kazakhtan. At the age of 5 along with his family emigrated to Tbilisi, Georgia. In the beginning of the nineties joined the artistic action group led by poet and multi-media performer David Chikhladze. Group staged big poetic tour named "G-K-CH-P" which stands for "Gastronomy-Kulinary-Chicherin-Poetry". In 1993 Rtveliashvili was elected "KING-PRESIDENT OF GEORGIAN DADA" by majority of Georgian poets and artists. Starting at 1996 he has joined "Korabliova Performance Theater" where he had staged famous "OM MANE PEDME HUM" and "KALI UGA ISTERIA" along with the other experimental plays. Books by Rtveliashvili include: I-reqtsia (1997), Apokrifi (2001) and Anarqi (2006). During "Rose Revolution" Zurab Rtveliahvili was prominent member of "Civil Disobedience Committee". His poem "I am the Vine" had become one of the anthems of the Revolution. Zurab Rtveliashvili is also one of the founders (along with Irakli Kakabadze) of "Egalitarian Institute". Continuing to perform his public art works in the streets of Tbilisi he was arrested number of times by Georgian Authorities and spent one month in a prison as a "Prisoner of Conscince" together with his four fellow colleagues from the Egalitarian Institute. Currently he is considered one of the most widely read Georgian poets and his extraordinary style of performance as well as insightful writing draws many supporters.
