Happy First Edit Day!

Louis Armstrong award

Greetings. I see we're dealing with a stubborn IP. I nominated the article for PP, so that should hold him off for a little while, but I'm thinking it may be worth asking for an edit filter.. unless they say "Oh we can't do that, because the person could become notable one day." Mac Dreamstate (talk) 13:37, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I'd bother with protection or a filter, personally. If he was adding some BLP violation or copyvio it might be more of a concern. But right now it's run-of-the-mill self-promotion, and at a slow pace. He'll tire of this before we do. -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 13:40, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Slow-ish pace granted (well it's every other day now), but PP will at least keep it off our watchlists for a bit. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 13:43, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Sun Gun page edit

Hello Mr. McWalter. I've seen that you have reverted my edit on the Sun Gun page where I mentioned its use in the Wolfenstein game series. You removed it because just the mention of the sun gun in the game's newspapers is not enough to make it onto the Wikipedia page. This makes sense but I forgot to include that it does contribute to the plot in a DLC known as "The Amazing Deeds of Captain Wilkins" where a soldier has to try and stop it from being used on America. You can see more about it here at these links:

https://wolfenstein.fandom.com/wiki/Sonnengewehr

https://wolfenstein.fandom.com/wiki/Wolfgang_Schwarz

https://bethesda.net/en/article/4dLpyR0ni8owGYi8KAssSg/wolfenstein-ii-the-deeds-of-captain-wilkins-now-available

In conclusion, the sun gun is mentioned more than just in the game world's newspapers as it has some significance to a DLC's plot. This would be enough to include it on the sun gun's Wikipedia page, right? руддщ глкфшту! (talk) 02:30, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so. Wikipedia:"In popular culture" content gives good guidance about what is significant enough to mention, and what isn't. I think this reference fails all four tests set out in that. In particular "Have multiple reliable sources pointed out the reference?" - the references you've supplied are either fan wikis or are associated with the subject, which means they don't qualify as independent reliable sources. -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 10:23, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And really, discussions about individual article content is better to do on the relevant article talk page - talk:Sun gun in this case. That way other people can be aware and involved too. Maybe the other people will agree with me, maybe they won't. -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 11:38, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok I understand. руддщ глкфшту! (talk) 22:15, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
