Within 6 months he was playing along to basic Metallica songs and eventually got his first double bass set at the age of 17.
Barker first become a drum roadie/technician for Telford based Death Metal Band Cancer and embarked on his first tour with Cancer and Deicide of Dec 1990.
This gave Barker a much needed foot in the door to help promote his own Death Metal Band Catalepsy who later changed their name to Monolith...
Being a avid underground tape trader during the very early 90’s,Barker got to know Cradle Of Filth through the underground scene and happened to man the drum throne for Cancer on a U.K./European tour in early 1993,which Cradle Of Filth happened played some of the U.K. shows further cementing his relationship with COF.

Nicholas Howard Barker is an English extreme metal drummer best known as for his work in Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir. Currently he is the drummer for Brujeria.

In 2011, Barker joined Los Angeles death metal band Sadistic Intent, replacing longtime drummer Emilio Marquèz.

As of 2012 Barker was drumming in United Forces, featuring two former members of Stormtroopers of Death, vocalist Billy Milano and bassist Dan Lilker, and guitarist Anton Reisenegger.[6] Barker also joined Voices, featuring former members of Akercocke, as live drummer for their tour of the United Kingdom with Winterfylleth.
