Felicia Adeyoyin
Prof (Mrs.) Felicia Adebola Adedoyin (born 6 November 1938) was a princess from the Iji ruling house of Saki, Oyo State and the author of the Nigerian national pledge[1].
Early Life and Education
Adedoyin received her PhD in 1981 from the University of Lagos[2].
Career
She was until her death, a lecturer with the University of Lagos and a consultant for the United Nations.
In 1976, she wrote the pledge published in the July 15 edition of the Daily Times in an article titled ‘Loyalty to the Nation, Pledge’ which was modified it and introduced it to the country as its National pledge by Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo who was the then Head of State.[3][4]
Awards
In 2005, Prof Adedoyin was given a national award, the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON)[5].
Death
Prof. Adedoyin died on 1 May 2021 after a brief illness.[6]
