Lead
Belevalo, Hi as per our conversation on your talk page - here Aljamain Sterling. The leas is the summary of significant content from the body text. The subject was born in US and not Jamaica. Holding his parents' country flag done not mean to be included in the WP:LEAD section where there where no body texts mentioned and even it is mentioned it does not mean inclusion in the lead section. Secondly, the lead has already mentioned " Aljamain is the current UFC Bantamweight Champion and first to win the championship by disqualification" the "down by judges score card" doesnt need to be there as this is the lead for the lead should be brief and reader would obtain the info from the body text and cited source. - i would accept concensus. Belevalo (talk) 07:39, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Belevalo, Thank you for your response. The current disagreement is between you and I, so you disagreement on your talk page fails the Wikipedia lead guidelines, pls confirm if you have any other point to make to support your initial statement, and if not, then I would take it as you agree to remove, Jamaican in the lead section if I dont hear from you one week from the opening of the discussion date (16 March 2021). Btw, pls ping next time, so I will receive a notification. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:14, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- User:Cassiopeia Mine was changed days ago. My edit was Jamaican-American, which are nationality designations, not the current Jamaican American, which is an ethnicity designation and goes againt WP:ethnicity. Not wanting to get embroiled in an edit war, i abandoned the edit. Change it if you will. Belevalo (talk) 08:25, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Belevalo, Thank you for your quick response. As mentioned and supported by source, Sterling was born in United States. As per your agreement above, I will change the lead section from " ... is a Jamaican American mixed martial artist" to "is an American mixed martial artist" in the Lead section. Stay safe. Change most recent fight to a win. Remove obvious troll that he lost due to “vagina injury”. 66.69.65.217 (talk) 23:47, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
- Partly done: I've removed the obvious vandalism and replaced
vaginaitis
withlingering neck issues from surgery
per the source. I haven't completed theChange most recent fight to a win
as I am not at all versed in sports and so don't really know whether a) that would apply here or b) how to properly represent that in the relevant infobox. Leaving request open for someone more knowledgeable than me to jump on that. —Sirdog (talk) 00:07, 30 September 2021 (UTC) - It appears another editor has altered the relevant text to indicate he won, so I'm closing out this request. —Sirdog (talk) 04:47, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
