Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Fenwick Tower, Matfen (currently a redirect to Fenwick Tower, Northumberland) → Fenwick Tower, Northumberland (move · discuss) – Not in the village of Matfen, only in the parish so per WP:UKPLACE county is more appropriate. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:13, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
- Japanese invasion of Malaya (currently a redirect to Malayan campaign) → Battle of Kota Bharu (move · discuss) – This page only describes the Japanese assault on Kota Bharu, nothing else. Additionally there is a page called the Malayan Campaign which describes the full Japanese campaign in Malaya however someone looking for that page could be confused as both pages titles essentially refer to the same thing, though only one actually talks about it SamMcDermott (talk) 21:30, 18 February 2022 (UTC) SamMcDermott (talk)
- @SamMcDermott: Makes sense to me. Just to confirm, is "Battle of Kota Bharu" indeed the WP:COMMONNAME of this event? Also, should Japanese invasion of Malaya redirect to Malayan Campaign after the move? Lennart97 (talk) 15:13, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Lennart97: Yes to both questions. The majority of sources I’ve saw describe it as the Battle of Kota Bharu or something very similar, and i think it would be much more convenient to redirect Japanese invasion of Malaya to Malayan Campaign to avoid confusion. SamMcDermott (talk)
- @SamMcDermott: Both done. You may want to 1. adjust the lead of the article to better reflect the title and 2. check the incoming links to Japanese invasion of Malaya to see which links are specifically intended for Battle of Kota Bharu as opposed to Malayan campaign. Administrator needed
- Edit this section if a request requires an administrator (see this guide to which moves need administrators). Place the request in another section if it only requires a page mover's permissions.
- Elie Charbel Lelo Sejean is invalid. Must create Elie Charbel Lelo Sejean before requesting that it be moved to Lelo Sejean.– Per RM consensus at Special:PermaLink/1072256665#Requested move 9 February 2022. The proposed title is salted due to previous recreation, although there is now consensus that the article's subject is notable. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 19:05, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- I have looked at this rename request. This is a textbook case of where a title had to be salted because the subject was too soon and had overly enthusiastic Wikipedia fans, ultras. Eleven years later, I concur with the request to unsalt. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:13, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Rainhill trials → Rainhill Trials (currently a redirect back to Rainhill trials) (move · discuss) – Most sources refer to these trials as the "Rainhill Trials" with both words capitalised, including
