Comment: Still lacking the sources which are needed to demonstrate notability - key thing to focus on is "significant" coverage, not just passing mentions (such as in a list of nominations). This unfortunately isn't helped by one of the few links which seem to focus on the band itself being a dead link now, but I'd encourage you to track down some more stuff to back the article up. Austral are an Australian folk music group based in Melbourne. The band formed in 2018 and are made is made up of Angus Barbary on fiddle, Caity Brennan on fiddle, Connor Hoy on uilleann pipes and Rhys Crimmin on didgeridoo, guitar and percussion. They are a modern representation of Australian Celtic music, which draws upon the nations's prominent Irish, Scottish, and bush roots.[1]
History
Three members of the band originally met in Adelaide (Angus, Caity and Connor) and begun performing under the name 'Astraíl'. They were then joined by Rhys in 2018, forming the current band as they reformed in Melbourne. Their first recording was a self-recorded EP entitled 'The Restaurant Downstairs'. The band recorded their first full-length album at Echidna Studio with Mischa Herman and launched it at a Melbourne Irish music hub 'The Last Jar'.[2][dead link] The band has mainly performed at folk festivals in Australia including Woodford Folk Festival[3]. The band was awarded the 2022 Australian Folk Music Award (AFMA) for Traditional Album of the Year for their debut album and was a finalist in two other categories for the same awards.[4] [5] Austral also received a nomination for Best Folk Work in the 2022 Music Victoria Awards.[6]
