Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Urban legends and myths (currently a redirect to Urban legend) → Urban legend (move · discuss) – Not WP:COMMONNAME, goes against WP:PLURAL ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 02:35, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina → Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina (currently a redirect instead to Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina) (move · discuss) – WP:CONCISE – Illegitimate Barrister (talk • contribs), 18:05, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Definitely oppose this. As per the current redirect, "Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina" would refer to the current armed forces, as housed at Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The article here, Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, refers to a short-lived entity between 1992 and 1995, and would not be the main primary topic. There might be an argument that if should even have a disambiguator added, (1992–1995) or similar, but either way the proposed move isn't advisable IMHO and isn't uncontroversial. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 19:03, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Disagree. The current organization is called the "Armed Forces" with the land component called the "Ground Forces". "Army" in this case would refer to the 1990s iteration. – Illegitimate Barrister (talk • contribs), 00:14, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Španje → Spani (tribe) (move · discuss) – User Krisitor (talk · contribs) keeps reverting the title of this article to the slavic form Španje despite the Spani being described in the article as an Albanian tribe, thus the Albanian form Spani (tribe) would logically apply here. Kj1595 (talk) 09:29, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- They are mostly mentioned as Španje or Španji in scholarship, hence my revert. Besise, the Albanian origin has only been put forward by some researchers, not all, so I've reworked the page to take that into account. Krisitor (talk) 09:50, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Unless you can provide us with a Slavic family origin, the Albanian naming convention applies here. The article clearly states, with sources, that they were an Albanian tribe, likely related to the Spani family. Kj1595 (talk) 10:00, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- They are not of Slavic origin, they are considered to be an indigenous people of the Balkans who preceded the Slavs, but they were not necessarily Albanians. I have updated the article accordingly, please stop your edit war. Krisitor (talk) 10:13, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Scholars Gashi and Sarxhi in their research link them to the noble Spani family. They have practically the same name. You cannot use a slavicized form of a non-slavic family/tribe in the English wikipedia. You just claimed they were not slavic yet you use a slavicized form of their name? Explain the logic. Kj1595 (talk) 10:41, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Copy-pasting what I said on the ANI: Španje is the name which is used in scholarship, nothing more, check Google Books for Španje [1] and you will find several English sources related to the people in question, whereas "Shpani" mostly points to Albanian sources related to the Spani family [2] Krisitor (talk) 11:06, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Kj1595 and Krisitor: this is not a legitimate request to revert an undiscussed move, since the current title Španje was the long-term title until the move war that took place this morning. As such, this is a simple controversial move request, and you should initiate an RM by hitting the "discuss" button above if you wish to proceed. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 11:15, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

- Trema micrantha (currently a redirect to Trema micranthum) → Trema micranthum (move · discuss) – Latin gender error for this plant species. PoWO says it's micranthum. Could not move it myself. Abductive (reasoning) 08:08, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- This is not uncontroversial... Ngrams show that the micrantha form has a large lead in book sources - [3] - so whether the Latin is correct or not (I have no idea on that point) the WP:COMMONNAME remains the present title and it's not our place to attempt to correct that. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 08:23, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- That's not how scientific naming works. It would be best if you refrained from interjecting yourself in things, where as you say, you have "no idea". Abductive (reasoning) 17:47, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Sources cited in the article use "micrantha". Amakuru is correct to say this is not uncontroversial. You'll have discuss in a formal WP:RM discussion. Click the "discuss" link to initiate this. Polyamorph (talk) 21:24, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

- Laguna Honda Reservoir → Laguna Honda (move · discuss) – Name is "Laguna Honda" according to USGS current "Laguna Honda" page redirects to disambiguation. Publicerination (talk) 12:07, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- Comment - the move of the disambiguation page has been reverted by NmWTfs85lXusaybq. @Publicerination: this is a potentially controversial move, so please use the "discuss" button above to initiate a move discussion, including Laguna Honda in the mix as well, if you wish to go ahead. - Menelik's Invasions (currently a redirect to Menelik II's conquests) → Agar Maqnat (currently a redirect instead to Menelik II's conquests) (move · discuss) – Agar Maqnat is a more neutral title and currently a redirect. Would solve dispute over the naming of the page ሰይፍ (talk) 21:40, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- @ሰይፍ: if there's a dispute over the naming (and the talk page bears this out) then the solution is to open a formal RM discussion, which you can do by clicking the "discuss" link above. Coming here and saying one particular title is neutral and avoids problems may not be the consensus view. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 22:00, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- Draft:Shallow Levée is invalid. Must create Draft:Shallow Levée before requesting that it be moved to Shallow Levée.– moving draft article into main namespace Daruchicken (talk) 12:33, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Daruchicken: the article doesn't look ready yet to me, there are lots of sections without sufficient citations. Please use the WP:AFC process to get this reviewed. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 13:37, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Y-Δ transform → Y-Δ transform (electrical engineering) (restricted by the titleblacklist, which page movers can override) (move · discuss) – Add parentheses/disambiguator MWinter4 (talk) 21:59, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- @MWinter4 1. You could move this yourself.
2. I really think controversy is possible and you should consult the engineering wikiproject first by creating a requested move. Aaron Liu (talk) 01:34, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
