Zari David "Bebo" Kovo [1] is an Israeli-Bulgarian property developer. He was one of the partners of property company Camden Market Holdings & Developments.[2] Kobo was convicted in 1979 of raping a woman who was a passenger in his car, and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.[3][4]

Career

In the 1970s, Kobo was based in Hong Kong, as a clothing manufacturer,[citation needed] working closely with the Nakash Group, who owned the fashion brand Jordache.[citation needed].

In the 1990s, Kobo alongside Richard Caring, and Elliott Bernerd, head of the British property company Chelsfield, teamed up to acquire London's Camden Market as well other properties in Camden Town. In 2014, they sold "a huge swathe" to fellow Israeli, the gambling billionaire Teddy Sagi, for £440 million.[5][6] The transaction was handled by PIR Equities, which is the private equity arm of Kobo's eldest son O.D. Kobo.[citation needed]

Personal life

He is the father of businessman Oded David Kobo.[5]

He is married to Israeli model Miri Bohadana.[5]

In 2015, he bought a 460 sq m house in Arsuf, for 16 million Nis, as part of a creditors' arrangement for brothers Eliyahu and Moshe Shushan and brothers Gad and Dov Slook.[7]

Defamation lawsuit against the "People" newspaper

In 2005, Kobo filed a Defamation lawsuit against the "People" newspaper, following an article published by his partner, Miri Bohdana, which included details about him. .[8]

In 2008, as part of a settlement agreement, Kobo withdrew the NIS 10 million lawsuit against "People" newspaper. In the agreement signed and approved by the court, it was determined that Kobo would receive the rights to the name of the newspaper. In addition, the editor of the newspaper and the reporters apologized for publishing the article and for harming Kobo's good name. The editor and the reporters confirmed that the information given in the article about Kobo was not true and asked for his forgiveness for harming his good name. .[9]

In another news article published on the walla website, kobo's lawyer said, "It is not possible for a newspaper, reporters, editors and CEO to commit bloodshed against citizens without fear of punishment." Kobo sued "People" following an article published on the May 2005 about Bohdana, in which he was mentioned Because he previously served a prison sentence for rape. .[10]
