Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Ndonga dialect (currently a redirect to Ndonga) → Ndonga (move · discuss) – Because even though it only has the second most pageviews of any article with the name 'Ndonga' in its title, after 'Zimbabwe African National Union – Ndonga', it's more widely known than the other topics and articles, and per WP:NCLANG. PK2 (talk; contributions) 08:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Kwanyama dialect (currently a redirect to Kwanyama) → Kwanyama (move · discuss) – Because that article is the only one with that name's spelling in its title, per WP:NCLANG, and because it has many more pageviews than the similarly titled article at 'Cuanhama'. PK2 (talk; contributions) 08:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Slovak Youth Orchestra (currently a redirect to National Youth Orchestra of Slovakia) → National Youth Orchestra of Slovakia (move · discuss) – Official English name intforce (talk) 17:38, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- Jace Chan → JACE (move · discuss) – Jace Chan is the English name of Chan Hoi Wing, but we hope to present her under the stage name JACE on Wikipedia. Christineyuu (talk) 09:21, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Jace Chan appears to be her WP:COMMONNAME. Also, you said "we", do you have any relationship with Jace. If so, you have to show follow the rules t WP:COI. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 11:08, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- The English-languages sources cited in the article all appear to use "Jace Chan". Note also that the proposed title violates MOS:ALLCAPS. 162 etc. (talk) 16:20, 6 August 2024 (UTC)

- United States v. Google LLC (2020) → United States v. Google (2020) (currently a redirect back to United States v. Google LLC (2020)) (move · discuss) – Lawsuit titles usually omit company suffixes. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 19:47, 5 August 2024 (UTC)

- @ElijahPepe: On the contrary. See, e.g., Category:Google litigation. Scholarly legal sources and courts normally include "Ltd.", "Ass'n", etc., which is called for by Bluebook (the most common U.S. legal citation style) and other case citation guides. Aside from criminal trials known for reasons other than the legal precedent established (which are often titled like "Trial of [defendant]"), U.S. case article titles normally follow Bluebook. See MOS:LAW#US. SilverLocust 💬 20:44, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Raúl Gómez → Raúl Gómez (Cyclist) (move · discuss) – There are other popular people named Raul Gomez, according to Google, since an actor raul gomez, is first listed on google. Mant08 (talk) 19:32, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Mant08, I think that if a page is created on en.wiki for Wikidata:Q9066857, then a move would be more appropriate at that time. If necessary, we could add a hatnote that there is a notable actor on the es.wiki Raúl Gómez (actor) in the meantime. -2pou (talk) 21:43, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Agree this would be premature. Only once another article is written on Wikipedia might this make sense. And in any case, we would use a lower case c. Station1 (talk) 22:16, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- The Goat Life → Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life (move · discuss) – the film's original titile is Aadujeevitham, with The Goat Life also being included in the official film poster, just below the main title Aadujeevitham. While CBFC certificate only lists Aadujeevitham, BBFC certficate [1] has the title Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life. To satisfy both original and common name, the article's name should be renamed as Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life. Jayanthkumar123 (talk) 07:12, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Jayanthkumar123 Unfortunately, there was a move discussion leading to the current title, meaning we cannot alter the title without another discussion. If you wish to proceed, you may click the "discuss" link above. ASUKITE 15:03, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- ultimate (sport) (currently a redirect to Ultimate frisbee) → Ultimate frisbee (move · discuss) – CN, NAT DAB Jruderman (talk) 02:49, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Jruderman: Please open a RM – the title has previously been the subject of disagreement among users, Talk:Ultimate (sport)#Title. Adumbrativus (talk) 06:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

- List of indigenous peoples (currently a redirect to List of Indigenous peoples) → List of Indigenous peoples (move · discuss) – this controversial move was made with zero discussion at talk. This should be moved back immediately so it can be discussed and objections can be heard. Pinchme123 (talk) 16:36, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- The discussion was held at a RM on Talk:Genocide of indigenous peoples and was not overturned at a move review. Titles should generally be consistent so I don't think this counts as an "undiscussed move", but I will leave it for further opinion. C F A 💬 16:43, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Local discussions do not apply project-wide. --Pinchme123 (talk) 16:48, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- That is not what I said. I said there was a discussion at a RM and titles should generally be consistent. I'm leaving this for someone else. I agree that a global RfC should probably be held on this matter, but that has not happened yet. You are welcome to start one, though. C F A 💬 17:23, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

- @Pinchme123 Technically, the requester is correct and this can be reverted, but should be discussed if so, however it is protected and only an admin can move it. ASUKITE 17:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
