Hans Koning (born Hans Koningsberger) (July 21, 1921 - April 13, 2007), was one of the youngest sergeants in the British World War II Army. In 1951 he came to the United States from Indonesia. He has since been a writer of over 40 fiction and non-fiction books, he was also a prolific journalist, writing for almost 60 years for The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Atlantic Monthly, The Nation, Harper's, The New Yorker, and the De Groene Amsterdammer.
