Music
The title song, "Punnamilona Vennela Vana Chaluvudanala Challani Talli Nagamma," composed by Dhina, written by D. Narayana Varma, and sung by K. S. Chithra was a notable feature of the series.[4][6] Its melody and lyrics complemented the show's theme and added to its identity.[2]
Reception
Nagamma gained attention for its use of visual effects and its blend of mythology, horror, and social drama. The series featured striking depictions of large serpents and a tense, eerie atmosphere, which resonated with viewers and contributed to its popularity.[3][5] Baby Gayathri, who portrayed Bala Nagamma, was noted for her performance, particularly in scenes where she was shown seated on a serpent, a sequence enhanced by makeup and visual effects.[5]
Legacy
Nagamma became one of the prominent Telugu TV series to explore supernatural and fantasy themes. Its Sunday night airings attracted a family audience and contributed to the growing popularity of the horror and fantasy genres on Telugu television, alongside shows like Rahasyam, Anveshitha, Aloukika, and Manoyagnam.[3][2]
The series also helped launch the career of Baby Gayathri, whose portrayal of Bala Nagamma drew significant attention. She later transitioned to films, making her debut in the 2007 Telugu movie Notebook and continuing her career in other films.[7] Similarly, Neeraja and S. V. Sreenivas gained recognition for their roles on the show.[5]
