St.Theresa Catholic Secondary School[1] is a Roman Catholic Secondary School located in Belleville, Ontario. It is under the direction of the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board [2]. The school is named after the patron Saint, St. Theresa (1873-1897). St. Theresa C.S.S. is a uniform school. Uniforms are supplied by Halperns LTD. Now in the community for 9 years and the school has become well known for its great academics, arts, and athletic programs.


  • Pre-registration for the 2007/2008 school year is August 28th and 29th.



History

St. Theresa C.S.S. Opened it's doors in September of 1998. The momentous event was the culmination of a tremendous amount of dedication and commitment to Catholic education on the part of the Administration at the Board Office, trustees, priests, parents, the Catholic community, teachers and students.

Because of the growing student population a new section of the school was necessary to be built. It was decided that a "new wing" would be built housing the new art studio, life skills, 7 new class rooms and an office. The new wing was officially opened during the 2006 school year celebrating with a school mass with many board officials, dignitaries, and media attending the event.

There are currently over 40 teaching staff, 6 support staff and 2 Administrators.

All student who attened St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School are taught under the Ontario Secondary Curriculum

From 2002 to 2004 St. Theresa C.S.S. has had sucsess rates below 80%. As of the 2007 school year the sucess rate is up to 92%.[3]

Facilities

St.Theresa C.S.S. is equipped with many new and great Athletic facilities including: 2 Soccer Pitches, Running Track, Full Sized Gym, Beach Volleyball Court and a Weight Room. Because of St.Theresa C.S.S. close location to the Yardmen Arena, is is used for the Canadian Hockey Skills Academy classes that are teached at St.Theresa C.S.S.

As well St.Theresa C.S.S. is also equipped with excellent new art, drama and technology facilities including: Art Studio, Drama Studio,Music Studio, Great Hall, Stage (including state of the art Lighting & Sound equipment) & 5 computer labs.

As well St.Theresa faciliteis include: Chapel, Great Hall (used for assemblies, dances, drama productions, lunch cafeteria, presentations by various organizations), a full sized kitchen (used for classes and meal preparation), a fully equipped library and 4 Science labs.

St. Theresa C.S.S. is well-known within the community for being one of the few (in Canada), school hockey academies. It offers full service training and coaching programs to assist with the effective development of athletic abilities.

In addition to the academic portion of it's athletic programs, St. Theresa C.S.S. also has one of the most well-known Intramural programs in all of Ontario. The Floor hockey finals, which is attended by dignitaries, hockey celebrities and hockey program alumni.

Drama Productions

Template:Future To date St. Theresa C.S.S. has produced 2 major productions:

  • The Sound Of Music The Musical
  • Disney's Beauty And The Beast (St. Theresa C.S.S. Version)

The third production is to get underway in February of 2008. The actual production name is not yet known as it is being kept secret. There have also been many other smaller productions, put on by the drama club such as:

Uh Oh! 2007

The Titan Olympic Games and a recreation of the famous YTV (TV channel) hit Uh Oh! rotate every year. Normaly whenever there are actual Olympic games held by the IOC St. Theresa C.S.S. has its own version of the games called (year)Titan Olympic Games with participation from the whole school. During the off years St. Theresa hold its very own version of Uh Oh!.
