Rich Busa

Richard Busa (born October 30, 1929) is a 78 year old man from Marlborough Massachusetts who has ran in over 70 Marathons and 61 Ultra Marathons. He ran the Vermont 100, which is 100 miles nonstop, at age 72, becoming the oldest person to complete the race.[1]

Busa was 53 years of age when he ran his first Marathon. Busa also dropped out of his first race in 1948. Not only is Rich Busa a great runner but he also pitched for a Minor League Baseball team in Texas in 1950. Busa then went to serve in the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean War. It's also been known that Busa has raced in over 60 snowshoe races. He is known as a local Celebrity around where he lives. There is a race named after Rich Busa called the Busa Bushwhack which is in Massachusetts at Callahan State Park. The fourth annual race was on Sunday November 4, 2007. The winner of the 2007 Busa Bushwhack race was Greg Hammett completing the race at a timing of 00:54:27. The fifth annual Busa Bushwhack race is currently scheduled for November 2, 2008.
