Transactions

  • April 7, 1976: Diego Segui was released by the Boston Red Sox. [1]
  • June 8, 1976: Wade Boggs was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 7th round of the 1976 amateur draft. Player signed June 10, 1976. [2]
  • On June 15, 1976, Oakland A's owner Charles O. Finley sold left fielder Joe Rudi and relief pitcher Rollie Fingers to Boston for $1 million each, and pitcher Vida Blue [3] to the New York Yankees for $1.5 million. Three days later, Bowie Kuhn voided the transactions in the “best interests of baseball.”
