Ajigawa Bridge under construction (Aug. 2007)

The Nishi-Osaka Line (阪神西大阪線, Hanshin Nishi-Ōsaka sen) is a branch line of the Hanshin Electric Railway Main Line and ends at Nishikujo Station. The line will be extended to Osaka Namba Station (to be renamed from Kintetsu Namba Station) to join the Kintetsu Nara Line.

On August 1, 2008, Hanshin Electric Railway Co., Ltd. announced that the extending line will be opened on March 20, 2009 and the Nishi-Osaka Line will be renamed "the Hanshin Namba Line (阪神なんば線, Hanshin Nanba sen)" on the same day.[1] Hanshin says it will operate through trains between Sannomiya Station in Kobe and Kintetsu Nara Station in Nara via the Namba Line.
