Carlos Barral was (with Jaime Gil de Biedma) the greatest poet of the so-called "generation of the 50´s". He was born in Barcelona in 1928. In poetry, a special mention is owed to his books Metropolitano, 19 historias de mi guerra civil and Lecciones de cosas. He was also a publisher and he created the publishing House Seix Barral, the most prestigious in the 60's and therefore. His three volumes of memories are the best you can find in Spanish. He was also a politician as member of the European Parliament. He died in 1989
