Have a Coffee
- Sorfane has given you a cup of coffee, for that quite amusing series of edits earlier on my talkpage earlier. Hoperfully this will wake you up a bit ;)
Coffee somehow promotes WikiLove and hopefully this has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a coffee, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or someone putting up with some stick at this time. Enjoy!
Spread the lovely, warm, bitter goodness of coffee by adding {{subst:WikiCoffee}} to their talk page with a friendly message.

then who is the one who decides what information is right and what information is wrong. Can the people that write this info prove without a shadow of a doubt that their information is correct? Query on block
Did you really levy an indef block on Deevee337 (talk · contribs)? That seams awfully harsh considering this editor never received a single warning. --Kralizec! (talk) 04:52, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, indef blocking without a warning definitely isn't policy. However, I highly doubt the said user would have ever done anything constructive. The vandalism was very blatant, and clearly in bad faith. Landon1980 (talk) 05:03, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'd have done the same, and the editor did receive a warning. Given their edits, it was clear that they had no intention of contributing constructively, and blocking as a vandal only account was the appropriate thing to do (I think so anyway). Steve Crossin (talk) (contact page) 05:06, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- They didn't edit after the warning though. Only because they were blocked in my opinion. Landon1980 (talk) 05:09, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- I would be perfectly fine with the block if the editor had received even a single level-4im warning. However the fact is that this editor got absolutely nothing from the community except an after-the-fact warning that was immediately followed by a block notice. Where is the AGF in that? --Kralizec! (talk) 05:12, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- True, however as AGF says, "Unless there is strong evidence to the contrary, assume that people who work on the project are trying to help it, not hurt it.". I'd say that their contributions indicate that they had no intention of contributing constructively. Assume good faith unless there's evidence to the contrary. I am all for assuming good faith, even stretching it at times, but this seems a clear circumstance of a vandal only account. Steve Crossin (talk) (contact page) 05:25, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Just a note: I am sorry for bowing out of this, but I have to be at work in 6 and a half hours, so I really need to get some sleep. Kralizec!, if you really want to unblock him, I will not consider it wheel warring, but all of the vandalisms the user makes if/when he is unblocked will be on your head. J.delanoygabsadds 05:35, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- When it comes to fellow admins, I generally follow a 0RR policy, so your invitation to bring the consequences of an unblock upon "my own head" are quite unnecessary. From my perspective, this looks like an out-of-process block because the editor got zero warnings before being indefinitely blocked. WP:BLOCK states that "before a block is imposed, efforts should be made to educate the user about our policies and guidelines, and to warn them when their behaviour conflicts with our policies and guidelines" ... but that did not happen here. --Kralizec! (talk) 06:30, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for the apology note, I very much appreciate it. This just re-confirms exactly what I said about you in your RfA, and I really wish that more admins could do what you did and step back to re-assess the situation rather than get defensive and emotionally involved. I would also like to apologize if you felt I was harping on you too much, and in retrospect I recognize that I should have issued this editor a {{uw-vandalism4im}} warning rather than the level one warning I gave. As I said to Landon1980 on my talk page [1], I honestly believe that the AIV process works very smoothly and without unnecessary drama when we are all operating on the same wavelength. In the case of Deevee337, what is done is done and I do not feel it is worth going back to change the block. While I will not presume to interpret the official blocking policy for you, I can say that I am always extremely hesitant to block editors who have not been sufficiently warned. Perhaps I was spoiled by your gazillions of well executed AIV reports, but blocking is serious and all AIV reports should be held up to the same high standard. --Kralizec! (talk) 18:35, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
- Do not get me wrong, I block certain sock masters on sight, and likewise I do not hesitate to block spammers or editors on a heavy vandalism spree. However I always make sure to dot my i's and cross my t's for everything else. If vandal fighters are correctly following policy, editors may be blocked in as little as four or five vandalism edits (or two if they are extremely blatant), so the potential gain of doing an early but out-of-process block is not worth the pain (drama and endless whinging on AN/I) if the vandal were to request an unblock on procedural grounds. (Sorry my replies are coming so long after yours ... I am at work and cannot give wiki my undivided attention.) --Kralizec! (talk) 18:53, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi J.: Some children are running wild this evening. If you're around, please check the vandalism noticeboard. Thanks, JNW (talk) 05:44, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

SF3 needs to ask you something!!
Hello, J. I just logged into Huggle and was on it for less than 5 minutes until it encountered that annoying pop-up window with options like "Send Error Report" and "Don't Send". I closed out, and then tried to log back in, but it says this: "Huggle is not enabled for your account, check configuration subpage." (And I've had this program for about three weeks) What does that mean? If you could look at my Huggle.css, can you tell me what my problem is? I've decided to ask this on your talk page because you're the user who helped me get Huggle. Thanks, SchfiftyThree 16:34, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
Hello... I was wondering if you could help...?
Hi. I think someone has hacked into my wi-fi. Anyway, occasionally I make anonymous edit's to wikipedia. I just ent to do one of those now but my account was blocked. I also just noted activity on my wi-fi other than me. I was wondering if you could unblock my I.P. now i've changed my WEP key. (To note, i made it WPA so it cant be hacked =) Thanks Mczack26 (talk) 16:51, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello Again
Perhaps you can help me out. I might have a potential move-vandalism and general vandalism problem. BeerBelly82, TitleRanch903, and BuffaloSam. The latter of the three left Wikipedia in December of 07 and came back yesterday. The others appear to be new accounts.
BeerBelly82 moved the Johnstown/Altoona Television Market template to Template:Johnstown/Altoona/State College TV, though I can find nothing to show "State College" is part of the official Nielsen "name" for that market. All of the pages that linked to the old template were then changed. TitleRanch903 appears to be following in this changing of old templates.
BuffaloSam has moved two radio market templates to "names" that don't appear to match the official Arbitron "name". This user also changed all of the pages that linked to the old template.
To me, this seems like move-vandalism and general vandalism. I could be wrong, but as Kubigula and Firsfron are out (the admins I bring stuff like this to), I bring it to your attention. Thanks...NeutralHomer T:C 01:35, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- I haven't, as I am not really sure what to ask. That's why I normally just let Kubigula or Firsfron handle these things (they appear to be off for the weekend). Do you have any ideas on what I should ask? Thanks :)....NeutralHomer T:C 03:53, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- No worries :) I ask Kubigula when he comes back and see what he thinks. Sometimes these edits are just good-faith goofs, sometimes not. That's why I ask an admin.
- I will go think another tough question for ya (kidding!). Have a Great Weekend...NeutralHomer T:C 04:19, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't think either revision is any good on that page. check the whole page, it is a total mess. Might not be worth the bother to revert. Let's put it this way: if the IP were going from (rather than to) the edit they keep changing it too, we would probably be reverting that as blatant nonsense. :) Protonk (talk) 03:08, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

I was just asking him something. Why did you treat it as personal attack?

Small furry animals
When dropping by on your user page after your block of Mister friendly i noticed an infobox on your main page that i would like to use on my own page (Hence the title of this subsection). Before simply copying and pasting it over, i would first like to ask if you have no objections on me doing so. In case it is, would you by any chance have a version around that does not contain an overload of HTML comments as vandalism protection? Of course its reversible, but well... :) Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 18:15, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Heh, nope. If you want to demean yourself, by all means go ahead :-)
- The non-html-commented version is (ironically) included in an html comment in this message. You may want to replace or remove the diffs I linked to.
- Feel free to
stealborrow anything you want from my userpage in the future without asking... Cheers! J.delanoygabsadds 18:24, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for saving me from having to invest valuable hours of time to uncomment that box.
- As for demeaning myself, well, don't they say that knowing oneself is the basis of all wisdom? No matter that, i changed the text a little notch, due to the much more pressing quote that says: "its better to shut up and make them think you are a fool, then to speak and remove all doubt". Sillyness aside, the infobox its just to fitting of what im doing (Both in old and new form) for me to just walk by :) Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 18:45, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

You recently deleted an article I posted on Salient Media. I read the section on Blatant advertising and don't understand how the article met that criteria. It's written in a neutral tone. Please explain why you undid all of my content additions, enhanced references, and increased organization of the Jimmy Carter article. I am a journalist who has covered the Carters for several years. I believe the post-presidency section of the article could stand to be condensed, reorganized and better referenced. I was attempting to do that. Template vandalism
Thanks for helping undo the vandalism at the John McCain article. Can we also protect the images? And, is protecting the images something that would be done at Wikipedia, or at Commons, or at both?
Incidentally, semi-protection is a definite improvement, but we may need full protection for both templates as well as images, by the time the election rolls around.Ferrylodge (talk) 02:35, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

This HTTP proxy can be used by changing your web browser settings. For Firefox, go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings > Manual proxy configuration > Enter "170.210.215.253" next to "HTTP Proxy" and "3128" next to "Port" and save settings. If you can browse the net, you've got an open proxy. You can see your IP using Special:Mytalk. There should probably be a tutorial on this somewhere. Spellcast (talk) 04:15, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Proxy tagging
Hi J.delanoy. I'll just mention this, especially if you are making the IP's last edit, it really helps to note (I think preferably in the block log) how the proxy is accessible so that it can be checked in the future. We get a lot of unblock requests from open proxies, and it helps people dealing with the unblock request if they know what to check. -- zzuuzz (talk) 17:43, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm testing!
Hi. I'm about to test rollback, because I'm curious what the edit summary says, but I can't do it in my own talk space because (I think) it would rollback too far, or maybe it wouldn't, but I'm afraid it would, so I'm going to leave a message here, and then I'm going to take it away! And then I'm going to look at the edit summary. So, that's what I'm up to. Hope all is well with you. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:00, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Test is done. It was kind of unexciting, actually. :/ I can see the point about it being polite to leave an honest to gosh edit summary when undoing somebody else's edits, but given the aura of grave severity around misuse of rollback, I kind of wondered if it was going to say, "U SUCK! I IZ REPORTING U!" It didn't. So...anticlimactic. Not that I 'm condoning reverting people without the politeness of an edit summary, mind you. Gosh, no. I'm all for civil! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:02, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Hey
How's it going? Last time I talked to you, you asked me if I could forward you Huggle ;) jj137 (talk) 03:07, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- I know, it's crazy. The thing that caught my eye (in my watchlist) is, you're an admin now? Well, firstly congrats :) Unfortunately I guessed I missed your RFA in my random times of inactivity :(
- I haven't really been up to much, really. I sometimes use Huggle, but like you said, it's a) a TON of people (pretty much everyone) use it now, b) less vandals, it seems like, and c) Huggle is about 5x a better tool than the "good old days". I guess it just makes it harder to actually find vandalism to revert... in March, every other click was vandalism and I could easily hit 20 edits per minute from reverting and warning. Or, maybe it's just me. jj137 (talk) 03:24, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ha ha, that page is... odd. For one, I don't even see the point of putting private information somewhere where anyone can see it. (Well, it looks like they may be foreign and may not know things like that, but still...)
- Yeah, it's surprising how much it comes in handy, mostly at random times. I guess you sort of get "used" to the buttons being there after a while. As for Huggle, well, I almost forgot that most of the vandalism came from schools (that would make sense). I'm guessing within a week or two it will increase. Also, if you want, you can delete one of my random user subpages and I'll "yell" at you. ;) jj137 (talk) 04:09, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ha ha, that's pretty funny. As for the "deletion addiction", I wouldn't worry, I doubt there's an admin here that hasn't clicked the delete button on one of those pages at some point. :P (Yeah, it's that tempting...) jj137 (talk) 04:19, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ha ha yeah, MediaWiki pages would cause SO much more havoc if you vandalized/deleted them than if you vandalized the Main Page or something like that. As long as you're careful not to get blocked (or I guess if you don't care, then go right ahead), admins have the most fun here on April Fools' Day ;) jj137 (talk) 04:34, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, I personally like crush by elephant the best :P If you look through the history of any major MediaWiki page (besides ones like Common.js), about half of the edits were on April Fools' Days alone... wow, what a great community we are. jj137 (talk) 04:41, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess not. It seems like this year most admins were either acting as silly as usual or trying to put a complete stop to it (I have no idea why, but I remember there was a long ANI thread about it, and 8 admins were blocked). It's just a joke, I don't see why people take it so seriously... jj137 (talk) 04:49, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah it soon adds up I'm telling you. If you are making edits every few seconds for maintenance tasks, categorical changes, tagging or template work not to mention stubbing work for a period, and discussion of project progression it rockets my edit count. If I was your standard editor who just browses and makes a slight correction or two everynow and again my edit count would be less than 30,000 I;m sure. 30,000 of my edits alone however went towards stubbing french communes at the rate of 5 a minute. I don't see where it's nonconstructive! Recently, it was write that the judge was Mario&Luigi and I was like Come on! and I delete it! You should do so! : Fabzzz —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fabzzz (talk • contribs) 23:59, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
