RTÉ News: One O'Clock
RTÉ News at One is the name of two RTÉ News and Current Affairs programmes, one a television news bulletin, the other, an extended lunchtime radio news analysis programme.
Television programme
The programme is broadcast daily at 1:00pm on the Irish RTÉ One TV channel. It can also be watched in full as a RealPlayer video stream from its associated Internet webpage and via RTÉ News Now.
The bulletin was introduced in December 31, 1961 when RTÉ launched a new look to its schedules on RTÉ One including the hour long RTÉ News: Six One, programmes begin from 1:00pm, but from December 31, 1961 programmes would begin until 1:30pm.
Aengus MacGrianna is the usual presenter of the One O'Clock News. The programme is shorter than other RTÉ News and Current Affairs bulletins, running for about 30 minutes.
Nuacht RTÉ
The One O'Clock bulletin is followed by Nuacht RTÉ: Cinnlínte Nuachta (RTÉ News: Headlines), a news summary in Irish which is accompanied in-vision subtitles, also in Irish (by way of devoting the right half of the screen to a feed from the autocue).
Radio programme
RTÉ also broadcasts an extended radio news programme - the RTÉ News at One on RTÉ Radio 1 at 1:00pm. The 45 minute programme is presented by Sean O'Rourke. Dr Gavin Jennings presents on an intermittent basis.
An extended news bulletin takes up the first few minutes of the programme. This is then typically followed by a series of interviews. It finishes with sports news, business news, and a summary of news from around the regions.
