Clarke City was a town in the Quebec region of Duplessis, located roughly thirty kilometers west of Sept-Îles, near Route 138. The name of the town originated from the Clarke brothers who established a paper mill there in 1903 to feed their publication house in Toronto. The village was officially founded in 1908 as the region's first closed city, and the Clarke brothers built a hydroelectric factory there in 1908[1][2].

The city was amalgated into the city of Sept-Îles in 1970.[1]
