Nomination

RandomStringOfCharacters (talk · contribs) – Hello all. I am nominating myself for adminship and stating the obvious. I've been around wikipedia as an editor since early 2008, though previously under another name. I requested that the two accounts not be publicly connected (for personal reasons), however I would not have received rollback unless the admin I contacted regarding it found my previous account to be in good standing. I'm a college student, and heading towards a computer science degree, and school won't interfere with my activity. I'm taking almost a full load of summer classes anyhow. Remember, there's {{gender|RandomStringOfCharacters}} for pronouns. ;) RandomStringOfCharacters (talk) 06:18, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: I intend to primarily do work regarding CSDs, anti-vandalism, and likely moving qualified public domain images to commons. As I do lack experience in conflicts, I'd probably try to stay out of such admin work (mediation, etc...) until I feel confident that I would perform well.
2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
A: I've created a tool to help in the process of resizing non-free images. I've been meaning to use it more, but the tool itself makes the whole process much faster, as it integrates the resize process into the browser. Though the category the images then go into seems to be well patrolled, I'd also work on removing non-fair use versions of files that have been resized. I'm currently revamping it to use GeckoFX as an alternative to the IE control. I'm also pretty good at tagging pages for CSD when applicable. Also, there's not any content creation, I stick to the maintenance side of Wikipedia, but that's what the admin tools apply to anyways.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: I honestly haven't been involved in any conflicts. Most of the areas I edit in don't tend to cause conflict. I can keep a cool head most of the time, and I'm good about leaving to calm down when I don't. As for interacting with other users, I try to treat others a bit nicer than they treat me. I like it when people respect each other and stay civil. Drama is so not needed.
