Now that the Google Video for watching the first episode of "Everybody Hates Chris" is no longer working, should it still be there? VarunRajendran

It should be removed and always stay removed. The reason being that it is copyright infringement and is illegal. Wikipedia will never support it.--AOL Alex (talk) 14:35, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

season 1 over?

is season one over yet?--Jaysscholar 20:39, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, it was just on winter hiatus. There'll be a new episode next week I believe. Sfufan2005 21:55, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That fat racist school bully

That fat racist boy at school gets on my nervs. What kinda school is that anyway, where the teacher's don't monitor that. There is that principal who is portrayed as mean to all the kids yet does absolutely nothing to the school bully, but is always on chris about something. I bet she is racist too. They could at least have the mom stand up for his son on that show a little bit more. A black mother wouldn't keep siding with the students like that especially when everyone at the school is white. The mother, being black, oughta know there might be something going on. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.31.100.211 (talkcontribs)

The show is set in the early 1980s I believe. I haven't seen the ones with the racist bully, I'm new to the show, but I think there almost certainly were kids like that in schools then. Although there'd been much progress what I remember of the early 1980s interracial dating was still taboo and there were some majority white schools even in NYC that still made black students feel unwelcome.--T. Anthony 10:04, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, well it probably is still going on today as a matter of fact. And I am just saying that Rochelle is cool and all but she should be aware of this kind of behavior. Instead she is always siding with the teachers at the school whenever chris gets into trouble. that principal seems racist as I don't know what always going after chris more than any of the other kids. And even those teacher's singling out chris for being poor because he is black. Everytime Rochelle went up to the school, she went after chris too. She is a cool mother, but that is a flaw in her character to side with the school over her black son.

I don't think she's meant to be a perfect Mom. She pretty clearly has her blindsides on some issues. However I think it's very important to her for her kids to stay out of trouble(as in prison, teen pregnancy, or drugs) and she probably sides with the teachers because she feels they share those goals. This is veering into chatting though so I'm not sure how this benefirs the article.--T. Anthony 11:20, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, now that you made those points, I agree and understand. Lots of parents are like that so I guess I see where the show is coming from. That was bugging me though. Anyway, yea, I guess this has no bearing on the article. Nice chatting with you though. Bye

I loved the scene in the pilot where Chris Rock said he let Caruso get away with calling him a Nigger that day but got stomped half to death for saying it at a DMX concert. There's probably still the odd Joey Caruso out there in some schools, only Kids won't put up with that nonsense now. Say the N-Word in the playground '82, nothing happens. Say it in '06, somebody's going to the hospital! Conquistador2k6 11:30, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Conquistador, lol, I KNOW that's right. There's no kids like chris nowadays. There's a considerable behavioral change which is why the word is usually only said in jest. 65.31.100.170 12:31, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was cracking up at the fight scene where "Ebony and Ivory" played From the get-go I knew this show was gonna be funny. Conquistador2k6 13:30, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really remember that. What episode was that Conquistador? Tonetare 17:41, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It was in the Pilot during Chris' after-school ruck with Caruso. Watch it on Youtube. Conquistador2k6 21:06, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I shall. I shall. I saw all the episodes but the pilot was quite sometime ago, last year in September so that's probably why I don't remember that particular episode. Oooh wait, I forgot. I missed the very first episode. darn it! I forgot all about that. I started watching with the 2nd ep. That is why I don't remember. Hm, wonder when they will show it again. Tonetare 22:16, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I feel not only the school bully is racist, but the entire show. With it's hidden refrences to racial topics, I don't know how some stuff gets past the censors!

LOL! OMG, you must not realize the premise of the show then. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.215.225.162 (talk) 18:00, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd guess that everybody being racist or just too dumb to notice they're being racist is kinda one of the points of the show. It just shows how certain things change (and some don't change)over the decades. Caruso certainly seems like a racist, but IIRC he is the school bully - he's not just picking on Chris, he's picking on other kids as well. You just see him mostyl when he attacks Chris, since the show is about Chris. Chris mother, though, is far from being perfect and has more than just a few blindsides. And her beating Chris (and the other kids) is pretty much standard punishment - just another point to show how times have changed. But with some stuff I wouldn't think too hard about. Sure, everybody seems to single out Chris - but then again, that's pretty much the name and major plot of the show... -92.230.132.83 (talk) 20:59, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Tonya" or "Tanya"?

The article says "Tonya", but IMDB says "Tanya". - furrykef (Talk at me) 11:15, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you just go to the Everybody Hates Chris official website and see ? TareTone 18:55, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why I didn't think of that. There it's spelled "Tonya", so I guess IMDB's spelling is wrong. - furrykef (Talk at me) 20:06, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Did anybody else notice that in the season 2 premier, Everybody Hates Rejection, Tonya had one small line. I hope this is not going to be a trend for the second season. It would be a shame to see Tonya written out the same way "Judy Winslow" was written out in Family Matters. Fighting for Justice 03:45, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Should Tonya's enthusiasm for Billy Ocean, to the point of thinking "Michael Jackson stole the moonwalk from him", be mentioned? I don't remember anyone in the 80s being that into Ocean, but it's a nice period detail. (Granted "Caribbean Queen" I guess was a bit after this series' time period, but they do play it some in relation to her)--T. Anthony 14:39, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
When was Billy Ocean's spot i the charts/limelight? (And just joshing, but I don't ever remember anyone ever being that into Ocean... -92.230.132.83 (talk) 21:01, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The family's last name

The article says that it is "assumed" that the family's last name is Rock, but then goes on to identify all the main characters as having Rock as their surname. If their last name hasn't been revealed, why should the article state that their last name is Rock? --Metropolitan90 22:14, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because the real Chris Rock does narrate the show. The premise of the show is from his perspective. Fighting for Justice 23:29, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

question

How do you know when everybody hates chris show in other countries and some translations?Shirleybiscuit

What exactly is the question? -92.230.132.83 (talk) 21:03, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.215.225.162 (talk) 18:01, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Title

Was the show named to capitalize off of the popularity of Everybody Loves Raymond?

According to the article, which contains the information you're looking for, it's meant more as a spoof. I don't like it, though—my cable box's guide displays them both as "Everybody", so I can't tell them apart. --Brandon Dilbeck 03:16, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why was it intentional for the age thing?74.195.3.199 01:08, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The description of Drew Rock

The article currently says that Drew is too young to be concerned about girls. However, in the series' second episode (Everybody Hates Keisha) Chris walks in on Drew making out with Keisha, who's supposed to be tutoring him in math. I just rented the first DVD of this series last weekend (I haven't been watching it on the CW); is Drew normally oblivious to girls? --Idont Havaname (Talk) 18:55, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pilot

By the way the pilot had a unique opening theme but it's title was everybody hates the pilot and we should mention that the sequence of the music changes.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.92.173.186 (talk) 14:42, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fix It

The language used in this article is a mess, would recommend a complete re-write of most of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.71.135.160 (talk) 20:22, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

Some jack-ass thoguht it would be fuuny to put the word N*****r prominant in the article by Ms. Arnold's name. Just thought I would give everyone a 'heads-up'! Obviously I'm removing it but I don't think, unless it persists, that a vandalism tag is necessary. Unless this isn't the first time. Nadiasama (talk) 08:29, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

With blatant vandalism like that, no need to feel hesitant about leaving the user a warning. In this case, that IP actually vandalized three articles. Collectonian (talk) 09:07, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"studio audience laugh track"

Isn't that an oxymoron? Studio audience tend to consist of actual human beings, and it's impossible for real-life human beings to produce canned laughter. Unless the studio audience consists of robots.... Retro Agnostic (talk) 11:25, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not really. Get an audience, record them, play them back.

Season 4 theme music

The part where we see Tequan Richmond during the season 4 intro there's a different music, which sounds somehow familiar. Does anyone know whether it actually is a musical cue (from some song from the 80s) or is it original "everybody hates Chris"? -92.227.29.44 (talk)

Sounds more like a section from an Amiga game to me. --93.97.181.187 (talk) 05:00, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
it's actually an excerpt of an 80s Kraftwerk songs melody, which was quite popular - "Das Model" or, in English, "The Model"; seems to be pointing out drews appeal to girls. Kraftwerk were a group often sampled by rap producers, even the 'early' guys like Afrika Bambaata. (Unterstrich (talk) 19:42, 25 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Rating

What is the rating for Everybody Hates Chris, and can someone at it to the right box in the article. Thanks --93.97.181.187 (talk) 05:00, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kill Moves

Shouldn't Edgar "Kill Moves" appear in the supporting cast section as well? He appears quite often and takes major part in i.e. the Kwanzaa episode. (Unterstrich (talk) 19:50, 25 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

The F word?

In the episode "Everybody Hates The Substitute", I heard the f word. Hasn't this sparked any controversy? --The source of the cosmos... 01:36, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
